Before having a heat pump installed, it's a good idea to have a load calculation done. While square footage is inportant, a load calculation will also take into account factors such as window and door size and type, roofing material, and climate. These and other factors will be combined and evaluated to give you the most efficienty unit for your home. A unit which is undersized or oversized for your home won't be as efficient and can end up costing you more.

If you would like to contact a contractor about doing a load calculation and installing a heat pump for your home, we can help you find one, here.
