My water heater has a label that says 6 year gas. What is the shelf life of my 40 gallon State Select water heater?

May/2010 installed.GAS Water Heater

No problems. I just wanted to know approximately how long they last. A range.

This says State Select , but under brand, I did not see that option.

It also has a label that says 6yr gas, & I do not know what that means.

Also under Type of Equipment, it lists boilers - separately from water heaters.-What is the difference?

The 6 year label refers to how long the warranty on the unit lasts. The average lifespan of a water heater is approximately 8 to 12 years, depending on factors including quality of installation and the home's water quality. A water heater lasting 15-20 years is rare, but not unheard of.
