My water heater started leaking water from the top center of the heater

If it is leaking around one of the threaded fittings, such as the ones for water pipes or the anode rod, it could just be a problem with the fitting not being tight enough. But if it is something else it probably means that the tank has developed a hole and will need to be replaced. If you think your water heater is still under warranty, you can contact Kenmore Warranty Service at 1-844-553-6667.

If you would like to have a contractor take a look at this to repair or replace your water heater, we can help you find one, here.
