If the thermostat to my furnace is out, can it cause my air conditioning to not work?

The thermostat is one of the first things to check if your AC is not working. It could just be that there is a wrong setting on the thermostat, or the batteries may need to be replaced in a digital thermost. There could be a problem with the wiring on either the thermostat or the control board, or the thermostat may have broken.
