Water heater is 7 years old. makes banging, clicking noises . has had sediment removed, but still noisy

Over time, mineral deposits and scale can build up on the inside of a water heater, causing the noises you've described. Besides flushing the tank, the tank bottom may need to be manually scraped through the drain opening or a chemical might be used to get rid of the scale. If this does not help, you may find that it's time to buy a new water heater.

De-scaling a water heater is something that should be done by a professional. If you'd like to have a contractor take a look at your water heater, we can help you find one, here.
