My contractor refuses to honor my 2 year warranty for my heat pump. How can I get assistance with this unit?Post created: 2016-03-02 Type of Equipment: Heat Pump Views: 48
I purchased the heat pump in November of 2014 with a 2 year warranty. On January 8th, 2015 the heat stopped working and ice built up in the coil. The technician came to my home and fixed the heat. On January 26th, 2016, the heat stopped working and ice built up around the coil again. The technician came out and stated he replaced the fuses and checked the defroster. On February 22nd, 2016 the heat pump starting making a loud noise and the technician came out and stated the coil assembly needed to be replaced. The technician stated he would check with his supervisor and come back once they received approval. I called the contractor (Childers Heating and Air Conditioning located Gaffney SC) back on February 26th, 2015 to inquire about the ETA of repair on the unit and I was told someone would call me back. I have not received a callback and my unit is still intermittently working. I have not been able to get any assistance with my unit and the unit is still under warranty. I also have pictures of the ice build up and I also have video of the noise the unit has been making. I started having issues with this heat pump 3 months after purchased. I would like get this issue resolved as soon as possible as I am primary caretaker for my wife who is bed ridden in the home.

You should be able to contact the manufacturer of the heat pump, as the warranty is usually through the manufacturer and not the installer. You may also want to try using a different contractor who may be more willing to help you out with this. If you'd like to contact a contractor about this, we can help you find one, here.
