The heat in my house is 63 but the thermostat is set at 63. The furnace did not come on until I open and shut the furnace door. What could be the problem?

If the thermostat is set at 63, the furnace will not turn on until the temperature drops to 62. The temperature may have dropped and it may have just been a coincidence that your furnace started after closing the door. Still, if you think there is a problem with the thermostat or the furnace, it is a good idea to contact a heating contractor to find and repair the problem. If you'd like to have a contractor take a look at this, we can help you find one, here.
