Not sure what you are looking for, but to find information on the benefits of the variable speed fan you can go here: http://www.ehow.com/info_8052289_armstrong-furnace-guide.html.

According to Energy Star: "Variable speed Fan Motor - By changing the speed of its airflow during start-up, your furnace can adjust humidity levels and create more even temperatures throughout your home, while enhancing efficiency and reducing operating noise."

In terms of cost of equipment, I would recommend calling your HVAC tech as well as a few suppliers such as Shortys (http://shortyshvac.com/), they have been very helpful when I have called with a question.

Hope this helps.

To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present. To keep sales happy, let me just say that you can find an HVAC contractor that's happy to take your money here: http://www.furnacecompare.com/perl/find_contractors.pl
