I am seeing white particles from the faucet in the hot water only. What is it and what can I do about it?

This question was created on the page: https://www.furnacecompare.com/water-heaters/rheem/fury-rheemglas.html.

It's a Rheemglas Fury. Serial: 0796128674

Model:21v405-n. I do not know the age. We have been here since 2001. We have not tried to remedy the problem. We found it due to glogging the sink filters

The white particles are probably caused by a broken dip tube, which is a plastic tube that delivers cold water to the bottom of the water heater. The tube will need to be replaced and the tank will probably need to be flushed out to get rid of plastic pieces inside.

This repair usually requires the skills of a professional plumber. If you'd like to have a contractor take a look at your water heater, we can help you find one, here.
