Why does my flame sensor keep needing to be cleaned?

The flame sensor may be dirty and failing to detect the flame. Cleaning the sensor with an abrasive pad, such as steel wool, will often solve the problem. If not, the flame sensor may need to be replaced.

Faulty flame sensors are a common problem with furnaces -- If you'd like to have a contractor take a look at yours, we can help you find one, here.
