My carrier fininity 96 furnace installation doesn't look correct

Post created: 2015-11-22 Type of Equipment: Furnace Views: 204

This question was created on the page: https://www.furnacecompare.com/furnaces/carrier/infinity-96.html.

My newly installed Carrier Infinity furnace has a PVC pipe installed on the exhaust side which extends through the rim joist and outside. However, the intake side only has a 3 ft PVC pipe installed. It rises from the intake port about 2 ft then turns 180 degrees and stops. Is this proper and will it give me proper operation?

Here is the link to the data sheet for the Carrier Infinity 96. On Page 17 it provides the vent pipe diameter information. I am not a HVAC contractor so I cannot advise on what the proper size should be. There appears to have a lot of factors to consider according to the manual. my advise is to contact a reputable and certified HVAC contractor to look at the installation if you have additional concerns.

If you are not happy with your installation, or have any questions about the operation and safety of your unit, it is a good idea to have a contractor look at it. If you'd like to talk to a contractor about this, we can help you find one, here.
