We purchased a home with the Trane XR80 furnace. Is there a filter in the furnace or just the one in our hall vent? If in the furnace where should it be?Post created: 2014-12-11 Type of Equipment: Furnace Views: 406

No problem just wondering where the filter should be

It depends on the air flow configuration as to whether there is a filter in the furnace cabinet. Typically downflow units do not have filters in the cabinet, but in the ductwork. Upflow units have filters on the side and bottom of the furnace cabinet.
For replacement filters see the chart below which matches to the width of the furnace cabinet.
