Received a quote for a 4 ton Trane XB80 furnace for a 2000 sq foot home. Is there a difference between a 3 ton furnace and a 4 ton one in this XB80 series.

Is a 4 ton trane xb80 the same as a 3 ton xb80 unit. Do the xb80 series come in different tonnage. I received a quote for a 4 ton unit but will I get a 3 ton xb80. How can you tell the difference. I do not want to pay for a 4 ton unit and get a 3 ton unit.

There is a difference between the 3 ton and 4 ton Trane XB80. The difference is in how many BTU's the unit will output in an hour. Your contractor should have done a load calculation to determine the size of unit that you need for your home. See the following article for some information on size calculations.
