On the Rheem Classic 90 Plus, it seems to be impossible to view the LED trouble codes without removing the lower cover which opens the interlock switch and resets the IFC board. Comments?

Can't see the LED trouble codes without removing the lower compartment door/cover which, of course, opens the power interlock switch and resets the IFC board with loss of trouble code. Seems kind of stupid to not have a sight window. Installing one would wipe out a large portion of the schematic since that's where it's glued. Only option is to run the furnace with the lower door removed for an extended period of time which may or may not result in capturing a trouble code and not safe for the homeowner. Comments??
