Think of the condenser not as cooling the air but removing the heat from the air. Outside at the compressor and condenser plant, the heat removal begins with refrigerant flowing into the compressor as cool gas. The compressor pressurizes refrigerant and what was a gas becomes a hot liquid. The condenser allows heat to escape from the refrigerant by multiple fin-like vents in the condenser casing so when the refrigerant reaches the end of these coils, it is much cooler and in liquid form but still under pressure. This pressure forces the refrigerant into a tiny valve and escapes the condenser in a fine mist.
