Does our Trane XV80 require a filter into the furnace itself? Our installer said no, only one in the house. This doesn't seem right.

Need to know if our TRANE XV80 requires a filter going into the furnace itself. Our installer said we only need a filter for the inside of the house. If it does require such a filter into the furnace itself, what are the order numbers and the cost?
