Whirlpool manufactures six different series of heat pumps. The company produces two premium series, two high-efficiency series and two energy-efficient series. Whirlpool states on its website that heat pumps are initially more costly to purchase than some other heating methods, but they soon pay for themselves since homeowners are able to use them throughout the year for heating and cooling needs.
Whirlpool Premium Two-Stage Heat Pumps
Whirlpool offers within the premium category an 18 SEER model with a capacity of 3 to 5 tons, and a 16 SEER model with a capacity of 2 to 5 tons. Both of these heat pump options have an HSPF of up to 9.75. The premium heat pumps are Energy Star qualified, which means they meet the strict energy and environmental guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Whirlpool High-Efficiency Heat Pumps
This category of heat pumps contains two models. The first option, with a SEER of 14, has a 9.0 HSPF rating. The second option, with a SEER of 13, has an 8.6 HSPF rating. Both units have a capacity of 1.5 to 5 tons. Whirlpool's high-efficiency heat pumps feature a two-speed condenser fan motor and a diagnostic module, as do the premium two-stage models.
Whirlpool Energy-Efficient Heat Pumps
This value category of Whirlpool heat pumps features two units as well: the first option has a 16 SEER and 9.75 HSPF, while the second model has a 13-14 SEER and HSPF of 7.8. These heat pumps include a single-speed fan motor. The Energy-Efficient category does come encased in a louvered steel cabinet with a weather-resistant coating, as do all of the manufacturer's heat pumps.
New Whirlpool 14-18 SEER heat pumps are covered by a lifetime unit replacement warranty, which covers the heat exchanger and the compressor. Standard units are covered by a 10-year warranty on the compressor. All Whirlpool heat pumps feature a 10-year limited parts warranty.
