Overview of the FT4BE
The Tappan FT4BE is a high-efficiency heat pump with an efficiency rating of up to 15 SEER and 8.5 HSPF. It is an Energy Star rated single-stage unit matched to a variable-speed indoor blower. The system is protected by high- and low-pressure switches, and a field-installed liquid line filter drier prevents damage from dirt and moisture. A permanently-lubricated motor requires no maintenance and combines with swept-wing fan blades and a sound-absorbing composite base pan to reduce operating sound levels to as low as 72 decibels. All-aluminum micro-channel coils are designed for increased resistance to corrosion, and side access panels make servicing the unit easier. A galvanized steel louvered jacket with a polyurethane finish is 950-hour salt spray tested to provide protection against corrosion and weather hazards.

Made a big mistake by purchasing this waste of money in 2012. Two years later, a txv valve had to be replaced. Now, 2 years from that it was a leaky coil. Really? It can't last 4 years? So they replaced that, and the next day it still didn't work. Then they found another leak in the outside unit condenser. What next? So glad I spent over $6,000 for a hot house in August. Seriously thinking about selling the house to get away from it. I am not paying anything for labor and parts so far because of the warranty, so that is good, but it's pretty much ruining my life.

"P.O.S. to put it nicely"
Installation completed and unit turned on 6/23/16. Fan seemed to be barely blowing cool air, but the house gradually cooled off. Woke up 6/24/16 with a terrible headache and realized it was very hot in the house. After installation I had programmed the thermostat and assumed I had done something wrong. After inspection by the installer, found the board in the air handler was bad. Repairs completed 7/1/16, the fan once again seems to barely be blowing cool. Nothing like my previous Ruud unit, but assume variable speed fan is the reason. Awoke 7/2/16, head hurting and hot house as this is Georgia in July. I bought a portable AC when the compressor went out on my old unit & it works better than this Tappan. Seriously considering having a new compressor put in my old unit.

"Tappan comfort system"
We have two Tappan heat pump systems in our home; they were installed in 2005 & 2006. Maintenance has involved changing filters in the air handlers. The heat pumps have performed flawlessly. As the distributor for Tappan in central Indiana, my own experience allows me to sell Tappan to my dealers (and, in turn, to their customers) with confidence. The 10-year warranty, along with the Tappan Quality Pledge, is a terrific program and offers peace of mind. You will be pleased with your Tappan HVAC system. Remember, the dealer is the key to a good installation.
