Overview of the AQV
The Samsung AQV heat pump series is no longer produced by the company; the most recent userís manual lists the year of manufacture as 2008. This series features wall-mounted, mini-split air conditioner/heat pumps that have been popular in Europe for some time and are becoming more common in the United States. Both stylish and practical, these particular units are sleekly designed for an aesthetic look and contain coatings and filters designed to remove allergens from the air. The series uses R22 refrigerant, or Freon, which is no longer allowed in the U.S. in new HVAC systems. The heat pump has an energy efficiency rating (EER) of 9.47.

"Don't buy this"
If your life is dull and you like troubles, you should consider buying Samsung heat pumps! You will have problems with electronic controls and even gas leaking after a few years (just after the warranty is finished). I know that all heat pumps are made in China but this one is the worst product of the industry.

"More Samsung junk"
I have two of these heat pumps. The one downstairs works perfect. Never had a problem with it. The one upstairs is an absolute piece of shit. Never worked right from the day it was installed. And now of course the installer is ignoring my messages. They don't want to fix them, just install them. I should have known better. My Samsung washer & dryer are both junk. Would I buy another Samsung product? Not in this lifetime! And I will write myself a note for the next lifetime!

"AQV24JAX Nothing but problems"
This heat pump has had so many problems, the dealer stopped selling and installing them and Samsung will not do anything to solve the problems. This is a not a heat pump anybody should buy. I have had nothing but problems with it since it was installed. In fact, the dealer had so many complaints he stopped selling Samsung heat pumps. Samsung has refused to fix the problems even though this has been going on for 5 years. From what I can see the only good review Samsung has received is from a distributor who sells their product. I have to join the rest and give them a very unsatisfied review. Nothing but problems and presently in the process of buying a new heat pump and putting this one out for heavy garbage pick up.

Other AQV Reviews
A customer writes to hvac-talk.com about a problem in getting his Samsung mini-split heat pump systemís compressor to operate correctly. The experts that respond disagree about how to handle the problem; one contractor recommends reading the instruction manual or calling the 1-800 number to ask for assistance from Samsung.
A potential Samsung mini-split buyer asks for help on justanswer.com. He is concerned that his existing coolant lines will be the incorrect size for his new heat pump unit. The customer's installer is hesitating in providing the information. The online expert responds that the customer must insist on finding out the model number and the correct line size, as the old lines are probably wrong and could cause future operational problems.
A homeowner poses a question on gardenweb.com about various brands of mini-split systems and their value. One responder mentions that Samsung is a good brand; another installer mentions that he has had problems with a Samsung unitís compressor and the manufacturerís service on defective parts.

Samsung provides a comprehensive warranty for the AQV heat pump for one year. The compressor is covered for five years. The warranty card must be filled out and returned, and the owner should retain the original sales receipt.
