"Waste of money buying this heat pump"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I purchased this heat pump last June 2014. It was the third one that they installed, the first two did not work properly. I should have taken this as an omen and cancelled the work then and there. Last winter we had a very mild winter in British Columbia. It never did keep the house comfortable; at times it used the furnace as an auxiliary to get the thermostat up to temp, so where is the savings, running two pieces of equipment to do one thing that the furnace did in the first place. This June, 2015, the air conditioner would not keep the house cool. I called the installer and he tried to fix the problem. It did not fix it. A technician from Carrier came out and spent over four hours troubleshooting the problem. Got it to work, finally. The next time I turned it on, guess what – not working again. I have phoned the company in Ontario to be told by the receptionist that I could not talk to customer service because I was not a dealer or installer. What the hell kind of customer service is that? I never had an air conditioner for the month of June or July. It is now August and I have phoned the company tech today with no results. So my advice to you is save your money ($5,397.00) and look for another product, it will save you a lot of stress.

"Throw away units"

Call it what they are – a six year throw-away! The compressors are worth less and you will need them serviced every year. I'll never own one of these again!

"Payne/Carrier units are POS's"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Unit broke down after not even a year's worth of operating time. I called and complained to Carrier Corp. and they sent a $50 dollar "Same as cash" coupon to go towards the service fees. The A/C company came and said the blower is completely dead, I need a new blower. After everything was said and done, come to find out that companies don't even accept these coupons from the manufacturer. I called and complained to Carrier again, and this time they wanted the invoice and the coupon sent to Carrier Corp in New York, so they can send a check to my address. So much headache. Bottom line, the unit should not have blown in less than a year. Cheap products and extremely poor customer service (senior reps are dumbasses). Stay away from Carrier products.

"Very Unhappy"

We purchased this heat pump in October 2007 and had it installed, then we didn't move into the house until March 2008. Yesterday (June 18, 2013), we had to replace the whole outside unit because the windings in the compressor are shot. It was also leaking from the coil in a place our AC contractor said it should not be leaking. It had R22, so it only had a 5-year warranty. I am very unhappy about it. I feel like it should have lasted much longer and had a better warranty. Had I known when it was installed, I wouldn't have purchased this brand and I never will again.
