The following guide provides information about Frigidaire heat pump models, pricing and warranties.

Heat pump overview

During the summer, heat pumps cool your home by operating as an air conditioner. During the winter months, a heat pump heats your home, often in tandem with a furnace. Heat pumps can also dehumidify your home. Heat pumps are environmentally-friendly and can save you 30-40% on your utility bills.

You’ll see references to SEER, HSPF and Energy Star throughout this guide. SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the calculation of the total measurement of a system’s cooling efficiency. HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) measures a system’s heating efficiency. Heat pumps featuring Energy Star qualifications have earned recognition as some of the most efficient systems in the industry.

Care and maintenance

While heat pump maintenance should occur year-round, you should keep the following guidelines in mind specifically during the winter months.

  • Avoid covering your heat pump while it’s operating.
  • Avoid blocking airflow by keeping your filters clean.
  • Inspect your condenser to ensure it’s not accumulating debris.

Contacting an HVAC professional

You can perform most heat pump maintenance without hiring a professional HVAC technician. However, there are instances when only an expert can do the job. You should schedule maintenance twice annually to ensure maximum efficiency for your Frigidaire heat pump.

"Nothing but issues"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Got this unit on the advice of a local mechanical contractor and have had nothing but issues. Freezes up regularly and will not maintain a set temperature. I have someone here to work on the unit at least three times every summer. Frigidaire needs to do a recall on these and help people get a worthy unit that doesnt require as much work as these do.

"Piece of Garbage"

1.0 rating

My wife and I saved for a year to replace our 12 yr old York. When the salesman came to our home he gave us a list of units to pick from. Then he told us about the Frigidaire unit, stating this is the unit he is putting in his home. The first month the unit worked fine, from that point on it has been a piece of crap. It runs for 6 hours and doesn't cut off. The installers have added Freon a new thermostat and spent hours here working on it. My electric bills have doubled and it still will not cut off.. This is undoubtedly the worse purchase I have ever made. If your installer wants to sell you this unit throw him out of the house. My 12 yr old York ran better.

"Sertously concerned"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Installed a high-end zoned Frigidaire heat pump system in my new house in mid-2010. Since then I have had one evaporator replaced after two years due to leakage and now after two years it needs another evaporator. I bought a ten-year parts and labor extended warranty when the unit was installed thinking we were good to go for at least that amount of time. There is obviously a problem with the components. Just curious if anyone else has seen this same concern.

"Our family couldn't be more happy with our high efficiency Frigidaire heat pump. It's perfect for out needs."

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

We are so happy with our new higher efficiency Frigidaire heat pump. We have only had it in the last six months but have already seen a reduction in our energy bill, can't wait to see how it does in the winter. It's so very quiet we sometimes forget that it's even running. There is really nothing negative that can be said about this system. It's super quiet, amazingly efficient and keeps up with our needs. I haven't had to have any service work on it yet which is always a plus. The outside of this system looks to be extremely durable and isn't such an eye sore as some heat pumps tend to be. We couldn't be happier with our heat pump!

"Do not buy a Frigidaire heat pump"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

We bought a 15 SEER R410 variable speed air handler heat pump in 2007 for $8,221.00. We have had nothing but trouble from the beginning. We have spent over $2,000.00 already trying to fix problems. I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau and the dealer gave us 5 years additional parts and labor. They don't make ours anymore! We had to use the auxiliary heat mode one winter and the electric bill was $400.00 for one month while waiting for a part to be made! Don't waste your money on this brand. The ironic part about the whole thing is that the dealer rep recommended this model and brand! Needless to say we are very unhappy with the entire experience with this brand. Don't buy Frigidaire.
