Echelon LX

Echelon Series

For consumers looking for high-performance heating and cooling, Coleman offers the Echelon series. With up to 18 SEER and 10.0 HSPF, both units in this series–the HC8B and HC6B–meet Energy Star requirements for energy efficiency.

This series' two-stage heating operates on a low stage until the system detects a spike in temperature. Two-stage heating also means few temperature swings, increased air circulation, and little noise when turning the unit on and off. Coleman's WhisperDrive system contributes to operation as quiet as 69 decibels.

LX Series

Coleman's mid-range LX series offers up to 15 SEER and 9.0 HSPF. Similar to the Echelon line, all models in this series–the THJF, THJD and THJR–are Energy Star-qualified.

Additional components of the LX include a permanently lubricated fan motor, coated-aluminum fin with copper tube coils, coil protection between the grill and condenser, and a raised fan coil guard for quiet, efficient operation.

Comforteer Series

While the Comforteer is Coleman's most basic series of heat pump, it still offers energy efficiency ratings up to 14.5 SEER and 9.0 HSPF. This series is manufactured in two models, the THGF and THGD, each of which has unit options ranging from 1.5- to 5-ton capacities.

Like other Coleman models, the Comforteer Series features a rust- and corrosion-resistant exterior and quiet operation using a sound-isolated motor, tough top panel and cushioned compressor mount to reduce vibrations.

Care and Maintenance

Coleman recommends an annual inspection by a licensed contractor to ensure maximum performance. Homeowners also are encouraged to regularly clean and inspect the unit's components, including the compressor, fan, indoor and outdoor coils, and refrigerant lines.

Warranty

Every Coleman is equipped with a standard 10-year warranty on parts and compressor. To receive the full warranty, the unit must be registered online within 90 days of installation. Failure to register the product decreases the coverage term to five years.

"Junk"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Bought this unit Nov 2016, very loud, cuts on and off every 5 minutes. A class action lawsuit was filed against this company last year over them using defective copper in their units since 2008, but unless you had a failure before Aug. 2017 you are not covered. Started having problems in January 2018 and called advanced heat and air who installed it just to find out the copper line had split and all the refrigerant had leaked out and I would have to pay almost $500 to fix it. Needless to say I can't afford to pay that after I paid $4000 for this piece of junk that is obviously nothing but a money pit . Johnson Controls will not stand behind their products so buyers beware.

"Coleman units suck"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Elite Air of Trinity North Carolina installed our new Coleman Heat and Air System. The unit is horrible. My in-laws built a new house on our land during the same time. Our houses are less than 2 years old. Their until has already required 6 service calls and is still not performing efficiently. The Coleman units are horrible or the company who Installed it ( Elite Air) has issues. I highly recommend staying away from both. It was one of my worst choices ever.

"Ch16 heat pump"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

So far it's going on the second winter, December now, I have it paired up with a nest stat, and Coleman modulating gas furnace, this pairing has been excellent I'm in Minnesota and the energy savings have been phenomenal with this system. House is 3200 sq feet and spray foamed and is costing me less money to heat then my previous 800 sq foot home

"Going on 3 repairs under the 10-year parts and labor warranty."

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

About 1.5 – 2 years old. Going on 3 repairs under the 10-year parts and labor warranty. Yearly maintained 2 times a year by Coleman authorized dealer. Was not a cheap heat pump model — around $5,500 dollars. You will need the warranty.
