Overview of the Signature 15CHPX
The 15CHPX is a discontinued packaged heat pump in Lennox's Signature collection. This Energy Star-qualified series was available in six different models and was able to reach up to 15 SEER and 8 HSPF.
The unit's basic components included a scroll compressor, an easily accessible control panel and a variable speed motor. An internally mounted outdoor fan was designed to help keep operation quiet and reduce vibrations, while a continuous monitoring system helps detect any system issues. A heavy-gauge, all-metal cabinet with an integrated base also was among the special features of the 15CHPX.
This series was equipped to support Lennox's internally mounted indoor air quality system, PureAir. Installation of this secondary system was designed to reduce the level pollutants in the home by helping purify the air.

Purchased in 2008 for $5,500 installed. The TXV's super-thin capillary tubing and elbow connection on the condenser side is a horrible design. This thing will leak refrigerant - just give it a few years of vibrating like mad. Since then, we've experienced several summers with a hot house, a ton of aggravation and thousands in repairs. In 2013 I had enough and wrote a letter to Lennox corporate. They actually replaced the entire unit through a local contractor but I know this one's days are numbered too (last one stayed sealed for a short, 5 years). No way I'd purchase another Lemmon. Run away if you're considering. Run away fast. Garbage.

Dealer recommended this model...it came with a rebate but was still more than the competition. We purchased this unit in 2009----after 4 years and 7 months the air was not blowing cold. We called and the dealer came and said there was a leak and the Freon had leaked out! The cost? $495. The Freon was $350.00 and he charged us $150.00 for labor. Needless to say, we were not happy. And guess what? This year we had the same thing - a leak and no Freon! I hope this helps your decision!

My husband and myself bought a Lennox 2.5 ton we were told that it did not come in 3 ton which the sales man said this would work. It is a 15 seer and we were looking to go with the highest energy savings. The unit was not put in right it had to be repaired we have had problems form the beginning. It frezzes over in the winter and the fan and compressor plus other parts were changed. With each season comes more problems I have requested several times to change the unit out with anoter one instead I was told by my dealer they would extend the warranty and labor for 10 years from the purshase date. I am tired of repairs and high light bills I am 100% unsatisfied
Other Signature 15CHPX Reviews
Consumers who have posted reviews on Lennox's website in general recommend the 15CHPX heat pump, saying it has good features, runs quietly and is very efficient in the summer. However, one reviewer says this unit does not heat as well as expected when the temperature drops below freezing during the winter. A second homeowner says the 15CHPX offers unreliable performance. This individual reports that several components, including the coils and case, are poorly constructed and susceptible to failure.
A review on hvac-for-beginners.com notes this model offers high efficiency, but that the warranty does not provide enough coverage compared to other brands.
