Janitrol Heat Pumps

Discontinued Series

Janitrol was a Goodman product line that offered three series of residential heat pumps. Although this line has been discontinued, consumers can still find components for their heat pumps on various HVAC sites across the web.

PH Series

Janitrol's PH series consists of one packaged heat pump listed under Goodman's international product offerings; it is available as a single- or three-phase model. With cooling capacity of 53,500 Btu/h and a heating capacity of 54,000 Btu/h, this heat pump offers a 10 SEER and 7.9 HSPF.

An energy-efficient compressor, PCS blower motor, quiet horizontal discharge, and copper tube and aluminum fin coil are among the system's standard features.

Janitrol PHK Heat Pump

The PHK series consists of nine packaged heat pumps offering up to 10 SEER and up to 7.5 HSPF. Ranging from 2 to 5 tons, this model is designed for ground, rooftop or side-by-side installation, and is approved for use in mobile and manufactured homes.

Standard components of the PHK series include a multi-speed evaporator motor, permanently lubricated condenser fan motor and a powder-paint finished cabinet. This unit also can be paired with a heat kit for an increase of 5 to 20 kW heat output. It uses R-22 refrigerant.

CPLT Heat Pumps

Janitrol's highest efficiency heat pump series, the CPLT, has a 13 SEER rating and up to 8.6 HSPF. This split-system heat pump was designed for ground or rooftop installation and features a high-efficiency scroll compressor, louver guard for increased unit durability and a quiet condenser fan system

The manufacturer also notes that the CPLT has a durable cabinet construction with a heavy-gauge galvanized steel case finished in polyester powder paint.

Care and Maintenance

While Janitrol's product literature doesn't recommend any specific care and maintenance guidelines, homeowners are generally instructed to have a professional service contractor inspect the unit annually for optimal performance. Standard maintenance, such as cleaning around the unit and changing the filters, also is recommended.

Janitrol warranties vary depending on the product purchased. Heat pumps with up to a 10 SEER receive a 5-year limited parts and lifetime compressor warranty. Units with 13 SEER are equipped with a 10-year parts warranty and a limited lifetime compressor warranty.
