Westinghouse, a brand produced by Nordyne, a Nortek Co., reports that its furnaces are designed for high efficiency and durability. The company offers a range of efficiencies in its furnace products, which are available in gas- or oil-fired options.
Westinghouse manufactures modulating, single-stage and two-stage gas furnaces with efficiency ratings ranging from 80 to 97 percent AFUE. These units feature durable heat exchangers, Smart Lite technology to ensure reliable igniters and a blower delay designed to maximize comfort. Upflow, horizontal or downflow applications are available.
The company's most efficient gas furnaces feature iQ technology that enables communication with the thermostat and offers diagnostic capabilities. To further increase efficiency, iQ drive-ready furnaces can be connected to compatible Westinghouse air conditioners and heat pumps.
Oil furnaces from the company offer an AFUE rating of 80 percent. Designed to be cool to the touch, Westinghouse oil furnaces have a finish that increases durability and a 22-gauge steel cabinet that dampens sound production. These units use Beckett burners with PSC motors, and the radiator's sequence timing is designed to provide improved efficiency.
Westinghouse gas/electric furnaces are designed to maintain consistent indoor temperatures with 80 to 81 percent AFUE. Single-, two- and four-stage heating options are available. Manufactured with durable materials, these units are corrosion- and weather-resistant. The compressor's sound blanket and swept wing fan blade ensure quiet functioning. A hybrid gas/electric model offers a dual fuel feature that further decreases utility costs.
Care and Maintenance of Westinghouse Furnaces
It is recommended that Westinghouse furnaces be inspected and cleaned annually by a professional technician and the furnace filter be changed. Homeowners are advised that if the thermostat has a "fan on" setting, that it be run through the summer and winter to continuously circulate air for more consistent indoor temperatures.
Westinghouse furnace warranties protect all parts for 10 years, but registration is required to receive full benefits. The manufacturer's 10-year Quality Pledge covers replacement of the heat exchanger in the event of that part's failure. Labor fees are not included in the warranty.
