Overview of XC95

The Trane XC95 is a discontinued variable-speed, three-stage communicating gas furnace. The unit was Energy Star qualified with an efficiency rating of up to 95.0% AFUE. It featured ComfortLink II communications capability, including remote monitoring by phone. The unit had a silicon nitride hot surface ignitor and multi-port in-shot burners. The aluminized steel primary heat exchanger was crimped to prevent cracking, and the secondary heat exchanger was made of stainless steel. An insulated blower door and steel insulated cabinet helped save energy while reducing operating sound.

Very unsatisfied

We shopped around for several weeks for a good deal on a nice furnace and A/C unit. After talking to several technicians and friends, we determined we wanted a Trane unit. Given the size of our house we needed the bigger unit. After getting it installed, the month after a blower fan went out on the unit. Now a year later another fan has gone out. Normally this should be at least 10 years into it before having issues. Now, only the parts are covered for repairs we have to pay for the labor at $85.00 an hour. This is bullshit. After spending $7000.00 on a new system, there shouldn't be any problems. I will never use a Trane product again. With being in construction, I will pass on to all my people about my experience.

I've had my Trane for 5 months

The very first month, I realized more than twice the savings from my previous furnace. Very professional, with absolutely no problems. I would highly recommend a Trane!

Research Your Installer!

I bought this product after researching the best furnace for our needs. Afterwards, I searched for a Trane dealer in my city, the Trane website only listed one. This company was awful. The air intake was left in my basement, the exhaust was not angled properly, and the water release was not anchored. As a result, 6 months later, we had no heat because our igniter burned itself out because the furnace was constantly turning itself on and off due to the high levels of carbon monoxide trapped in the exhaust. I found another dealer who has fixed all of the issues with our Trane since. She is still loud as heck. But seems to be running fine otherwise. Here's hoping. If your igniter keeps burning out, check the angle of your exhaust. It needs to be at a constant slope or exhaust will get trapped. Find a better dealer if you have had issues with your Trane.

A member on stated that the XC95 is a good quality furnace on a post regarding which thermostat can be used with the unit.
