Goodman GMH95 Furnace Overview

The Goodman GMH95 is a discontinued two-stage, high efficiency gas furnace with an efficiency of up to 96% AFUE. This Energy Star approved unit used a four-speed direct-drive circulator motor that consistently operated on a lower function to save energy. When the system detected a change in temperature, the motor automatically transfered to a higher heating stage. The multi-speed motor, along with an insulated cabinet, contributed to quiet operation.

Other features of the GMH95 included a silicon nitride ignitor, an aluminized-steel tubular heat exchanger, an electronic control board with self-diagnostics, and an auto-comfort mode that improved air quality and dehumidification.

"The absolute worst A/C furnace"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

This horrible central furnace/ a/c ruined all of my windows, trim and wooden sills that were only 5-years-old. This was put in 6 years ago. It does not remove the proper amount of moisture from the home. When I contacted Goodman, the website says this 6-year-old, 98% furnace a/c has been discontinued. Never had any problems with my old system. Goodman has given no support or tech help. Buy from anyone but Goodman.

"Terrible service and hard to find parts"

Purchased this model in 2010. Goodman wouldn’t warranty the part needed. The inducted blow motor was the problem. Hard to find the part at any hvac repair shops. Would not recommend Goodman.

"Lemon air and furnace and bad customer service"

Bought a brand new air conditioner and furnace from Goodman approx 10 years ago. During the first 4 years, the coolant in the air conditioner would leak out over the winter and each spring it would have to be refilled. To this day still waiting for the parts to be replaced to prevent the leak, there solution in the mean time was to spray a chemical into the system to gum up the leaking area. As for the furnace, have had to have the motor replaced 4 times in the last year and the electronic board. 3 weeks ago the furnace starting banging when running, turns out the shaft has bent and fused itself to the blower. We haven’t had air now for 3 weeks, Goodman is saying the part is under warranty, however the motor still works and they want the technician to do what ever he can to get the motor freed up and put back in. We have told the technician thanks, but no thanks, we are now looking a competitor’s furnace. By far the worst experience we have ever had with a company and their product.

"Good furnace overall but poor warranty service"

4.0 rating
Somewhat Satisfied

This furnace was installed by my home builder at the beginning of 2011. It is relatively quiet and keeps the house warm. Overall we have been happy with it although we did have an issue recently. The inducer/exhaust motor started making a loud metallic noise letting us know the bearings were no longer properly lubricated and failure was immanent. This seems to be a common problem with the inducer motor that came with the furnace. The part was covered under warranty but that didn’t help since Goodman will not send parts to homeowners. Instead you have to call a pro which would have cost a service fee much more than the part (quotes of $145-300). a part like this is easy to replace. I ended up buying one online for $95 and installing it myself. I understand sometimes a pro is needed but for parts like this an exception should be made.

"Problems after 1 year old"

This was fine the first winter. But since then I’ve had 2-3 service calls a winter for the last 4 years. The furnace won’t start up then you reset and it sometimes works or not. This not good in Toronto during the Winter at Xmas. Again it won’t start. The York furnace I had for 17 years I never had 1 service call. So much for high efficiency. Wouldn’t buy a Goodman again. Waiting for the Service repair man again!
