Overview of Acclimate
As part of the Unitary Products Group of Luxaire, Luxaire supplies ventilating, heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning products to the United States.
Within the heating range, the Acclimate series offers two gas furnace models, the LP9C and the LPLC. The LP9C carries a 98% AFUE rating - one of the highest in the industry while the LPLC has an 80% AFUE rating.
The Acclimate models meet energy efficiency guidelines as evident by the Energy Star rating.
Other features include:
- Fuel efficiency and quiet operation thanks to fewer starts and stops
- The Variable-speed blower reduces electricity consumption
- Better comfort matching with the modulating design that fires at a rate of .50 or .65% increments
- GeoTrak technology allows the furnace to adjust to temperate, dry or humid climates

Double the $$$$
We had our unit installed 5 years ago and we have had to service it 4
winters in a row when it stopped working in the dead of winter. I have
just turned it on for this heating season and it is again not working!
Instead of having someone come to fix it for yet another $1,000, I am
looking into new units. By now, I will have invested the amount we paid
for the unit and install in repairs! I cannot believe that they allow
innocent people, who work hard for their money, to buy this crap!

Our new home came with Luxaire central A/C and heating units already
installed by the builder. Despite regular changing of the air filter
and annual servicing, my unit only lasted six years before needing
costly repairs (about $1,000). I wrote to Luxaire in Norman, Oklahoma to
complain and they fundamentally said, "too bad". I do not recommend
Luxaire products. I also understand that Luxaire is manufactured by
Carrier, so not only will I never buy a Luxaire product, I will never
buy a Carrier product either.

Find any loopholes to keep from responsibility
Just a word of caution to anyone buying a Luxaire furnace. The
manufacturer and their Directors of Sales will not stand behind their
product. We bought this "modulating" high efficiency furnace in 2008 and
have never had any confidence in this furnace to go on vacation between
fall and spring up here in Minnesota. It is now 2015 and we have never had any
year that we didn't have to have our installer come out once in the fall
and once when the temperatures got into the below zero ranges. Our installer
has been great but even he can't put enough parts in it to keep it
running. This week my wife and I had enough and had Minnesota's
"Director of Sales" come out with his guy and our installer. From what I
could understand it was installed correctly. So as we all stood in my
driveway discussing how to get to a solution, Director of Sales Tom says we
need to follow the procedure laid out by Luxaire to get a solution. I
looked at him and said why don't you guys just fix the furnace finally
and we won't have a problem.
If you buy a Luxaire (and I advise against it), any time you have a repair call on it get a receipt from the technician for your records so when you finally have had enough with it being broken, you will be able to follow the prescribed procedure laid out by Luxaire. (This was the short version).

Review of Luxaire Acclimate - 2014
As a homeowner who has allergies to indoor dust and outdoor pollens, I
wanted a furnace/AC that provided clean air. After having this unit in
my home for a little over a year, I can say that any medical problems I
had due to allergies was very minimal. I was able to control any outdoor
allergies with an over-the-counter medication and noticed that the
amount of dust in the home did not accumulate quickly after cleaning. I
am very pleased with this unit.

My wife and I had a Luxaire Acclimate modulating gas furnace installed
about 6 months ago. Wow! What a difference it has made. The furnace is
so quiet when it is running. Shamefully, I called the contractor back
thinking that the furnace was not working, but it was! It was just that
quiet! The contractor highly recommended Luxaire and let us know that
the parent company was Johnson Controls. We liked the high efficiency,
excellent warranty (we also purchased labor coverage for 10 years) and
the fact that our purchase was supporting the Make a Wish foundation. We
also had an Luxaire Acclimate air conditioner installed at the same time
and are equally happy with it. I would highly recommend this product if
you are considering it.

I am a heating contractor with 20+ years experience installing
Carrier/Bryant, Lennox, Keeprite, Goodman/Amana and Trane/American
Standard plus more furnaces & air conditioners. I installed the new lp9c
series modulating gas furnace in my own home and my in-laws home. I have
had Luxaire furnaces in previous homes and family members home for many
years and have had no problems with any furnace that I have installed.
Don't get confused between a poor product with a poor installation.
If I would put one in my in-laws home I would put one in your home too!

40 YEARS OF SERVICE
I have had Luxaire furnaces and air conditioners in all four of my
homes. Over forty years of service they have provided my family with
reliable comfort. I recently built my retirement home and had the new
Luxaire Acclimate fl9c 100 stage modulating furnace installed. The
cooling unit is a Luxaire acclimate al5b 2 stage 15 seer utilizing r410
refrigerant. This was the best decision I could have made. We are
extremely comfortable and you barely hear the units running. Luxaire,
Keep up the good work.
Other Acclimate Reviews
One user at Justanswer.com experienced poor heating from the LP9C model, saying only the small blower near the ignition source worked. Another consumer at hvac-talk.com commented that Luxaire modulating furnace is a very quiet unit and the comfort level would be superior.
What do i do to correct four red flashes from the LED indicator?
I found this: "4 RED FLASHES: This indicates that a primary or auxiliary limit switch has opened its normally closed contacts. The control will operate the supply air blower and inducer. This condition may be caused by: dirty filter, improperly sized duct system, incorrect blower speed setting, incorrect firing rate or faulty blower motor. Also, this fault code could be caused by a blown fuse located on the control board."
If you feel up to it you could try cleaning or replacing the filter. If the filter is too dirty it won't let air flow through it properly, which will trip a safety feature.
The Acclimate is available in different models which vary in efficiency and capacity.
The LP9C and LPLC gas furnaces carry the following warranty:
- Limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger
- 10 year warranty limited warranty on all other parts
To qualify for this warranty, customers must register their furnace within 90 days of installation. Failure to do so would result in a five-year limited warranty on parts only.
As an added benefit, if customers purchase an Acclimate furnace along with a matching two-stage heat pump or air conditioner then the purchaser qualifies for the 10 years total coverage, as part of the Performance Promise Plan. In the event the home is sold, the plan can be transferred to the new homeowner.
