Overview of G60UHV

The Lennox G60UHV is a discontinued gas-fired, two-stage furnace. According to documents dating from its production in 2001, it was designed for either upflow or horizontal installation and, due to its low profile and narrow size, is appropriate for installation in alcoves, closets, crawlspaces, attics and utility rooms. This 2- to 5-ton capacity series has an AFUE rating of 80 percent and input capacities between 66,000 and 132,000 BTU/H.

The cabinet is pre-painted, and the flue outlet can accommodate upflow or horizontal installations. The G60UHV is considered to be very quiet, as it uses the manufacturer’s SilentComfort Technology, and has a fully insulated cabinet to further decrease noise production.

As a two-stage unit, a two-speed combustion air inducer is only employed during the heating cycle. The SureLight hot surface ignitor automatically responds to the need for heat and is used with the SureLight Integrated two-stage variable speed blower control. Additionally, the unit has limit controls and flame rollout switches for protected operation.

The G60UHV is manufactured with a Duralok aluminized steel heat exchanger with crimped seams to better handle expansion and contraction. The aluminized steel inshot burners are housed in a burner box that can be removed from the unit for easy serviceability.

Fan motor problem with Lennox G60 UHV series

Installed unit in 2003 and had to replace fan motor after 5 years and just had to replace it again in October 2017. The fan motor is a "dc" model and very expensive $760.00. Of course they won't warranty it.

Lennox G61MPV Furnace - Piece of Junk

I have a relatively new Lennox g61mpv Furnace and it's the worst pos I could imagine. After spending several thousand on repairs during the warranty period (parts covered, labor not covered), I finally threw up my hands just bought a $325/year service contract to cover both. This thing has broken down, on average 2 times per year since it was installed new about 6-years ago. Do not under any circumstances, purchase one of these Lennox products, unless you like a 50-degree home in the middle of winter for a week while the service techs struggle to figure out the problems. So far I've had a 2-3 circuit boards go bad, the blower motor, and even the coil (that's a pricey item, by the way).

Other G60UHV Reviews

Although widely commended for its quiet operation, the G60UHV does have its issues. For example, the variable speed motor is described by one technician on justanswer.com as “not customer friendly.” In common diagnostic cases reported on doityourself.com, particularly when it comes to limit switch malfunctions as the unit features several such switches, technicians advise the homeowner to contact a professional contractor.

When a homeowner on hvac-talk.com seeks advice on determining the problem causing him to change his flame sensor on a monthly basis, contractors report that the Lennox G60UHV is known to have a flame sensor issue for which Lennox makes a stronger alternative flame sensor. Such a problem may also be a grounding issue, which should be checked by a professional.
