Overview of the EL195
The Lennox EL195 is a discontinued high-efficiency, single-stage gas furnace. The EL195 featured an efficiency of 95% AFUE and earned the Energy Star label. The Durolok Plus heat exchanger was constructed of patented ArmorTuf aluminized steel, with a stainless steel secondary heat exchanger. A completely insulated steel cabinet, sealed blower compartment and continuous low-speed circulating fan provided quiet operation, as well as improved air quality. The EL195 featured a SureLight control board, which ensured efficient operation and provided direct-readout diagnostics.

We installed this furnace in July 2014. As of January 2015, we are pleased with the reduction in gas usage. The reduction in electrical usage is not clear. It is quieter in the house than our previous furnace, but the medium pitched whine is not pleasant. The noise it makes outside of the home is loud enough that I would not have purchased the unit had I known. I have a lot of close neighbors that I hope don't install similar units in their homes. The reliability factor remains to be seen.

"Poor quality with constant problems"
2 years and 5 services. Every time it's cold this thing quits. Have to have an alternate source of heat if you want a Lennox. Today is the first cold day of the year and here I am waiting for the repairman again, who is charging double time because he's busy. I was told I could book for three days from now if I wanted straight time. I'm not counting on being a long term owner of Lennox.

Purchased this furnace 23 months ago and used it until May. When the tech came to clean the furnace, the blower motor was no good and it cost me the labor to have this replaced. Do not understand, after 23 months, why the blower motor would have gone bad, and then I have to pay to have it installed. Would not recommend this furnace.

"Defective gas valve"
Replaced a Pulse Lennox gas furnace due to the failed pressure test with a Lennox Elite 195 uhe gas furnace. Local Lennox dealer was very good with installation and communication with customer. After Installing on 8-10-12. , the first use of furnace during cool nights the Following weeks there was failure of unit to ignite the burner with the Unit going into auto shut down mode after 5 attempts to ignite. Local Dealer tested gas valve, that is made by Honeywell, found the valve to be defective! Replaced valve, solving the problem. Suggestion: Lennox test furnaces before shipping, to prevent local Dealers the headaches and customers without heat!!
Other EL195 Reviews
Based on comments from online HVAC forums, the EL195 is regarded as a good furnace. A consumer on diychatroom.com stated that he had a lot of smoke with a new unit, but was advised that new units often smoke when first used due to oil coating the heat exchanger. When asked to choose between the EL195 and a comparable Rheem model on hvac-talk.com, more people preferred the Rheem but both got positive reviews, with almost nothing negative mentioned about either unit.
The EL195 is covered by a limited lifetime warranty on the Duralok aluminized heat exchanger (20-year transferable) and a limited 5-year warranty on all other parts. In non-residential applications, there is a 10-year limited warranty on the heat exchanger and a 1-year limited warranty on parts.
