Had a Heil furnace and heat pump installed during new construction in January, 2009. The motor that powers the blower to the exhaust spent fuel, has bearings that squeal, and the heat exchanger is bad.

"Happy so far"
We just purchased a furnace around Thanksgiving. We are very happy for the energy savings and quietness of this new heater. We chose a local heating guy recommended by our neighbor and have been pleased with the whole experience.

"Love our furnace"
We have a new heil furnace and love it. I cannot belive how quiet it is. We had a Lennox and it was so loud and broke down every winter. We have had our new furnace for 5 years and not once has it broke down.
Other DLX 90 Reviews
One potential furnace buyer writes in to the hvac-talk.com forum to ask about the quietness and reliability of Heil’s DLX 90 furnace. Several of the responders recommend a Ruud model with a similar rating. Other posters note that a variable speed model—which the DLX 90 is not—is worth the extra money since they are more likely to provide quiet performance than standard blowers.
A homeowner posting on gardenweb.com asks for input on a quote he received for a Heil furnace for his home. An expert on the site first points out that although Heil falls under the same parent company as Carrier, the two companies are not related in terms of quality and production. That same expert advises focusing on sizing, rather than brand, as the foremost consideration for installing a new furnace.
A consumer asks on doityourself.com about whether a Heil gas furnace is a good buy compared to other brands. The HVAC contractors on the forum give the Heil brand favorable reviews, and mention that the buyer should consider the 90-percent efficiency models. The experts also recommend asking the installer for a load calculation to make sure the unit is sized properly for the home.
