Overview of the GDT
The Goodman GDT is a discontinued single stage, multi-speed induced draft downflow gas furnace designed for closets, alcoves, utility rooms, basements and attics. The unit was designed for heating or a combination heating/cooling application. Models of the GDT had input rates from 45,000 to 115,000 BTU/hr. with an 80.0% AFUE. It featured a multi-speed direct drive blower motor, a sound isolated blower assembly to reduce noise, and a blower compartment door safety switch. The tubular heat exchanger was constructed of aluminized steel, with aluminized steel inshot burners. The insulated cabinet was constructed of heavy gauge steel with a baked enamel finish.

"Trouble with furnaces after 4 years"
The furnace in our house was installed shortly after the house was built in 2009. In 2013 it stopped working. It would not light when the thermostat called for heat. The furnace tech did a lot of troubleshooting and determined it was either the gas valve of the main board. He could replace them individually to see which one it was or replace them both at the same time which would save us some money if he ended up replacing both anyways. He called Goodman and they gave him no guidance on which component could be causing the issue. We had him replace both components. Works fine now but I don't think we should have issues with a furnace after only 4 years of use.
