Overview of the FG6T

The Frigidaire FG6T is a discontinued two-stage condensing gas furnace. It was available in an upflow / horizontal model (FG6TC) with an efficiency of over 92% AFUE, and a downflow model (FG6TL) with an efficiency of over 90% AFUE. The unit had an aluminized primary heat exchanger and a stainless steel secondary heat exchanger. A 30-second blower delay at start-up to assured warm duct temperature, while a 30-second inducer post-purge increased the life of the heat exchanger. A variable-speed blower provided quiet operation and was installed on a slide-out track.

Review:
"Flame sensor"
I had a Frigidaire furnace installed by Economy Heating and Duct Works in 2010. When it was installed, the contractor told me to clean the flame sensor every September. Well, since then my circuit board, flame sensor and pressure valve have all needed replacing. I have to clean the flame sensor every 2 weeks or my heat doesn't come on, but the service guy at Royal Furnace says it's running normal. If you're planning on a furnace replacement do not, under any circumstances, buy a Frigidaire.

Review:
"Owner of this pice of junk"
We had the Frigidaire furnace( high efficiency) 2 stage and central A/C & heat pump installed in 06 model fg6tc o8o-vb. This unit has been bad from the day I bought it. Has service every year, won't burn but 1 minute and shuts off, will not keep freon in it for 3 months and leaks out or something. 10 years parts and labor does not pay for freon or labor. The warranty stinks. Do not buy a Frigidare furnace. Good luck to the rest that have no problems with their furnace. This furnace and heat pump is a piece of junk. Thinking of pulling it out and replacing it with something else. Thanks!

Other FG6T Reviews

Overall, contractors and homeowners seem to be pleased with the FG6TC. Professionals on gardenweb.com state that the two-stage functionality of this unit should provide more consistent heating and increased home comfort than a single-stage unit. The solid warranty, they say, is another reason to consider this model. Hvac-for-beginners.com also rates Frigidaire products well for the warranty and quality basic components.

While feedback on this model is generally positive, several homeowners post troubleshooting inquiries on consumer forums such as fixya.com as well as HVAC discussion forums. Issues include the unit's failure to heat, instances where the system is slow to start heating, major components breaking, hard to interpret diagnostic codes, and noisy operation.
