Furnace one year review

When we received this furnace, one of the cheap plastic front panel knobs was broken. Both the installer and ourselves have contacted Carrier for a replacement knob and they claim they do not have parts to send out under warranty and one would have to buy the part from a distributor. This is horrible service and the design having a cheap plastic part on a hot furnace just is poor engineering. Update: 2017-07-18 This unit arrived new in the box with a broken "cheap plastic" latch knob. When we called the factory for a replacement they indicated they did not have parts and suggested we go purchase one. Talking to other HVAC firms, these knobs break off fairly regularly and they knew exactly what we had experienced.

Why My Gas Furnace is Tops

When it came time to replace our furnace we were at a loss. I had to do a lot of research to know what to be looking for so that we did not blow our budget. I knew about Carrier and Lennox but we decided to go with Carrier. After much deliberation, we chose the comfort 80 gas furnace. I have to say, this is one of the best decisions we made regarding upgrading things in the house. The bedrooms upstairs were always hard to heat in the winter but this past winter with this furnace showed us keeping warm and toasty. I was concerned about how high the heating bills would be, but overall, I am sure that we are saving money rather than spending more when we heat the house with the new furnace. I like that it comes with a 20 year warranty from Carrier. It is fully insulated so it does not make as much noise as the furnaces ten years, 20 years back did.

Other Comfort 80 Reviews

The Carrier Comfort 80 receives generally positive customer feedback. Consumers on gasfurnaceguide.com report durability, infrequent repairs, and even air distribution. A few posters complain about the product breaking down and the cost of labor. Consumers on forums, such as doityourself.com and gardenweb.com recommend this unit to others searching for a new furnace at a reasonable cost.
