Overview of the LUF80

The Armstrong LUF80 is a discontinued variable-speed, oil-fired furnace with an efficiency of up to 83.0% AFUE. The variable-speed motor featured a "soft start" and "soft stop", which combined with a balanced blower wheel and strong motor mounts to provide smooth, quiet operation. The heat exchanger was made of heavy duty 14 gauge steel, and a high temperature ceramic fiber combustion chamber with stainless steel cleanout ports provided easy cleaning access. The LUF80 used a Beckett burner with a solid state ignition and a PSC burner motor for reduced power consumption and smooth operation.

Review:
"Great furnace"
I have installed oil units for over 20 years and the Armstrong is the best with the best warranty right know 5 yrs with extra 5 yrs when registered on line no one had better warranty . I've read the reviews they all seem to be about gas models. And how the contractors install them. I can say if your heat exchanger goes bad in less then 15 or 16 yrs you get a new one free -- just have to pay labor which is around 500.00 to install. As for parts, they come with a Becket burner same as any other units on market. Parts are the same, costs are the same -- nothing special, just a good unit. I have one in my shop it's been running for 18 yrs. I have replaced the burner motor and a new nozzle every year and that's it.
