"Triangle Tube makes low quality boilers"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I installed the Triangle Tube boiler in 2015 and have had to call the plumber more than 5 times to fix something. I filed a warranty claim, called the office, emailed them, and received no responses. I have no faith in either this product or the company that makes it. I would not recommend this product to anyone for any reason. Even after the technician would come look at it and "fix" it, it would still stop working for days at a time. When the weather was really cold in the middle of winter, there were times that we were actually without hot water for several days. Even though this is a cheaper boiler, I guarantee that you will spend more that it's worth to fix and replace parts.

"Thanks Triangle Tube!"

As a homeowner and licensed plumbing and heating technician in Canada, I have a love/hate relationship with these boilers. I have one in my house. It has broken down 4 times in the 7 years I've had it. Though the repair parts are ridiculously expensive and difficult to get, repairing it has made me an absolute expert at troubleshooting and repairing them. There are quite a few of these in my area and they are great for business! Being able to charge homeowners to fix these units has paid for my own Lemon many times over! Thanks Triangle Tube for having such terrible products, service and warranty! You've paid for me to replace this junk unit with a non-garbage boiler!

I researched the heck out of boilers before installing a Solo 110 to replace our 30 year old oil boiler back in 2007. Against all of the advice on here I installed it myself, only bringing in a professional to do the final gas hookups and verify all my work. I would guess I had a total of $4000 into it. Our boiler has worked flawlessly from the get go. By replacing the "jet engine" in the basement this boiler paid for itself the 1st year. We were going through an entire tank of oil every month from November to March! These are not like the old boilers and so I would guess a lot of installs are not done properly. The installer (or homeowner) must do a heat loss calculation on the home. There are plenty of freeware/guides for doing that on the internet. I suspect many of these boilers aren't sized proper as our oil unit was 186000 BTU. Secondly, they must be tuned to your home. Properly tuned it will measure the outside temperature and add only a little extra heat than necessary to warm your home. It works great for maintaining heat but it takes a very long time to warm a cold room because of it. That took adjustment for us because we were allowing our 1st floor to drop to 60 at night with a programmable thermostat. We don't do that now. If your circulators are running less than 1/2 hour at time your boiler isn't tuned in the most efficient manner. I moved the unit from our basement to an enclosed sun porch in 2011 after almost losing it to flooding during Sandy. I had one or two errors then but they were traceable to my wiring the outside thermostat. Other than that we've never had a problem or a service call. I work in technology so I like to fiddle with the settings tuning it closer and closer to the needs of our home. I only found these reviews because I'm shopping for an indirect water heater to add to the unit. I'll also be adding solar to the water heater with a zone valve and custom control board. Like I said, I work in tech and love to mess with this stuff. I'd have no problem recommending one of these boilers and actually have to my in-laws.

"Wonderful High Efficiency Hot Water Heat"

I have owned my boiler for 6 years. It was put in as a replacement for a boiler that was installed in the early 1960's, when my house was extensively remodeled. Since its installation, and the subsequent zoning (with thermostats) of my house into 4 zones, I have saved a considerable amount of money on my energy bills. The boiler is very quiet, it is right below my bedroom and I cannot barely hear it running despite it being mounted to a wall that was constructed specifically to hold it in place. I have not had to repair anything on it, it has not failed yet despite several winters that were incredibly cold and windy. As it is a high efficiency boiler, it has both an intake and output vent on the windward side of my house, and neither of these have clogged with snow, ice, or any other substance during winter. I especially like the fact that it is a variable-output boiler, meaning that once the water is up to temperature, the burner does not operate at 100%, it reduces its output and generally only replaces the heat that was transferred from the water to the room. In this manner, the water running through my baseboard heaters is always at a constant temperature, and my rooms heat very evenly and comfortably. This was not something that could be said with the old boiler. In addition, because the house is now zoned on thermostats, I'm able to only heat areas where I'm at, not the entire 2 stories of my house. This again saves me an incredible amount of money. The only downside to the boiler that I discovered well after it was installed was how the condensate from it was removed. Due to it being a high efficiency boiler, there is condensate which is routed to a pump and then to my stationary tub in the basement. I was not aware how corrosive this condensate was. As my house was built in 1949, I still have metal piping in many areas, including the waste pipes under that stationary tub. Several years later, I developed a leak in one of the pipes, which upon me trying to remove it, was paper thin. I had to install a pH neutralization system (pipe with marble chips) between the boiler and the pump to neutralize the condensate. I do not fault the boiler or the maker for this, but it would have been nice if the installer had made me aware of this potential issue. All in all, I think this is a wonderful boiler. I have never had a problem with it, I would definitely recommend it to a friend or relative, and given the weather in Buffalo, I'm very thankful I know I can count on it to keep me warm through the cold winters we have.

"I love my TriMax!"

We've had our Prestige TriMax (PT110LP) for five years now. It replaced our old boiler when it finally gave out and we had to buy a new one in a hurry. We absolutely love our new boiler, it runs quietly and is incredibly efficient, which is great for the energy bill. The installation was a little tricky, but the techs were very knowledgeable. They walked us through the entire process and helped guide us through the user manual. Once everything was in place it's been smooth sailing from there on out. We've never had any issues with the TriMax since then. We would definitely recommend Triangle Tube products and would certainly purchase from them again.

Other Prestige Trimax Solo Reviews

Several consumers on gardenweb.com mentioned how pleased they are with the heating efficiency of the Prestige Trimax Solo. There are just a couple of negative comments about the control panel. On terrylove.com there are problems mentioned with the boiler pressure, but those seem to be cause by the fill valve and not the boiler itself.
