"V7 leaks"

Installed a v73 12 years ago. This year it started leaking from a pinhole on the block. Burnham will either sell me a new block under their warranty for $680, and I pay labor and misc. Parts to install (approx $1500), or Burnham will give me a rebate of $675 towards a new furnace. Either way, it's too much money to spend on a furnace that should have lasted. I hear the V8's are having leak problems as well. Does anyone have any experience with the MPO's?

"Terrible product, terrible company"

Suprise, suprise. Same exact leaking problem with my v7 as everyone else. No warranty coverage, not the original owner. A good company would have recalled a shoddy product with major, wide-spread manufacturing defects. Burnham should be standing behind their brand-name, and products, not hiding behind their warranty. You would think that they would get the picture after all the oil providers stopped selling their product, and after seeing all the unhappy, former Burnham customers calling, emailing and posting on this website. I also will never buy another Burnahm product.

The furnace is leaking right now and is not even 10 years yet. Unfortunately I am not the original owner and hence not covered under warranty. This is a v7 unit and I saw another person here posted the same complaint. I have a Weil-Mclain unit in my other house and has been functioning for the past 30+ years without any problems. I am done with Burnham. I intend look into the possibility of a class action suit.

My Burnham boiler lasted 9 years, which is a long time for this piece of junk. So its still under warranty. Whoopie I still have to pay labor. Add a new twist, Burnham no longer makes the v7 boiler so they are sending me a v8 which is new and updated. What they dont say is the v8 needs additional piping and parts. $1500.00 installed. What a deal. Meanwhile no heat in Feb in Maine.

Burnham did have a problem with their v-7 series oil fired boiler. There is no debating this. Unfortunately every manufacturer has at some time or another had a problem with products they manufacture. It's how they deal with this problem that separates "the men from the boys". With over 25 years in heating wholesale business I've seen no other boiler manufacturer stand behind their product, dealers, and end user as well as Burnham has. It's true that if you are not the original purchaser of the boiler there is no warranty, but Burnham does offer these people a substantial rebate, some over $1000, toward the purchase of a new Burnham boiler. Have you ever bought a used car and had a problem? When you brought it to the dealer I'm sure he offered to give you a new car, right? Burnham continues products among the best in the world in both the residential and commercial market segments and I will continue to sell them with confidence.

Other V7 Reviews

There are several posts on doityourself.com concerning leaks due to cracks in the cast iron boiler. This problem is also mentioned several times on hvac.talk.com and heatinghelp.com. The cause, according to some professionals replying on the posts, is usually a fluctuation in water temperature.

V7 Warranty

The warranty for the Burnham V7 boiler was comprised of the following:

  • Lifetime True-Blue limited warranty on water boilers and 10 years on the steam heat exchanger

A 5- or 10-year warranty on parts and labor was available when purchased through a member of America’s Home Heating Team.
