"Worst Boiler and Worst Co. Burnham are crooks."
This burnham steam boiler broke after 5.5 years . They offered $750 for a boiler I paid $6,000 for. They are irresponsible crooks.

"21 years and still going strong"
We replaced our oil burner with a gas fired Burnham Independence boiler in 1996. We have a steam system. I replaced the thermacouple once ($15 part) and that's it. I do regularly flush out the system as recommended. It's very easy to do. Very satisfied.

"Review on burnham IN6s-EI-EZ-IN6 boiler"
I have had this for 3 months. I like how simple it was to start using, very user friendly. I don't like the cost of it, very expensive. I love that it's cast iron but heavy to move. Replacement stuff easily available on supply house.com. I have had one other by this brand that was great and lasted years! The boiler is a pretty color and I use it during the short winter months but I am a tropical person and love the heat without the smell the heater on the ac system makes. I prefer a boiler over furnace when up north in winter as well, the steam is much nicer and gives some humidity that reminds me of Florida lol. Over all, I would reccomend this one. The delivery people helped me get it to where I wanted it, it's about 500 pounds and doesn't budge easily!

"Rusted out after 8 years"
The boiler rusted out after 8 years despite annual cleanings. The previous boiler lasted 30 years. The company refused to honor the 10-year warranty and offered a $500 credit on a replacement. The company also refused to give a more comprehensive warranty on the replacement.

Have two boilers and both draft inducers are very noisy. After blower replacement ($360.00), one furnace is fine. Now I have to buy one more. Not happy with the Burnham reliability.

"My Burnham boiler is a lemon"
We got it in 2000 and it provided us with problems every year. A variety of electrical issues, water problems and now it is completely corroded inside I will never waste my money on a Burnham boiler again. I have 2 other boilers in my 3-family - one is about 30 years old and the other is about 5 years old - I have no problems with either of my other boilers - just the Burnham.

"An Excellent Boiler of High Quality"
My last boiler broke down for good a little over a year ago after a few years of terrible service and so I decided to finally splurge and replace it with something reliable. I found this boiler to be an excellent replacement; as soon as I had it installed, I knew that I had made the right choice because it actually worked, and it worked well. I did not need to worry about it sputtering out or breaking down randomly. The only thing I had a marginal dislike for was the color of the boiler, though since I don't really see it, this is an unimportant concern so it is not worthy of attention. Never have I needed to replace or repair it and with how excellent it is, I doubt that I will ever have to. Overall, this Burnham boiler has been excellent and if given the opportunity, I would buy this brand again in a heartbeat as well as tell my friends about how useful they are.

"One VERY Satisfied Customer"
I've owned my boiler for a little over two months now after my last boiler stopped effectively heating. I like this because it always seems to be ready for me; when I'm in the middle of a shower, the water no longer suddenly turns ice cold on me. After putting up with a boiler that put me through that agony almost daily, take my word for it, being able to wake up and shower without this fear is amazing. I will concede that at times the water seems a little slow to heat at first, but this is the only complaint I have. I have never needed to replace or repair my model and neither do I believe it will be necessary, as it has thus far worked extraordinarily well. I plan on purchasing the same brand again, when the need arises and I already have recommended it to several friends, all of whom have been similarly satisfied with the efficiency of the product.
Other Independence Reviews
The Independence is called a very dependable boiler by writers on hvac-talk.com and heatinghelp.com. There are a few threads regarding questions about how often water needs to be added, and a couple of problems with different units not running correctly are most likely due to installer error, according to professionals on both sites. A problem with a noisy exhaust on a power vent unit was also due to installer error, according to the consumer.
