Overview of the RHLL
The Rheem RHLL is a discontinued air handler with airflow capacities ranging from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU/H. It featured a compact multi-position design (upflow, downflow, horizontal left and horizontal right) for a wider array of installation options. It had an ECM blower motor and a field-installed auxiliary heater kit for optional electric heat. The unit's steel cabinet featured an inch of foil-faced insulation which increased efficiency while reducing sound levels.

2 months after the 12-month warranty expired we had to recharge the system and then had to do it again 12 months later. This time the tech found that the coil is leaking. This coil is known to Rheem to be faulty and we are responsible for the labor cost along with the $300 cost to recharge the system twice before it's even 2 years old. We are also concerned with the refrigerant leaking into the air system and into the house for my family to breath. Rheem doesn't seem to care. I will make it well known to all I encounter that Rheem is a second class product and I assure you I will never purchase another product from this manufacturer.

"If you want junk quality then think Rheem"
It breaks down more than the 10 year old system I had before. I am now repairing it every 3 months & their so-called dealers charge as much for their labour as what it would cost if I had to buy the parts as well. It is 3.5 years old & have yet to have it operate for 12 months consecutively. I have now paid over half as much in repairs as it cosst for a new one. I will never buy this brand again for anything.

"Do not buy Rheem"
Had a brand new Rheem AC/Air Handler installed on 8/12 and it lost all the Freon every 8-9 months. Had to pay for Freon as it is not covered in the warranty. Spent close to $2000 in three years time because the Freon kept leaking out even after replacing the part. The fourth time I figured the Rheem AC was a money pit! Will never do business with Rheem. Had to buy another new AC/handler on 12/21/15. All Rheem could say is I'm sorry each time I had called in the past about the Freon leaking out.

Bought this unit 4 years ago and already need the coil to be replaced. They will pay for the coil, but it will cost $1200 for labor, which is B.S. Why should I have to pay for poor design & manufacture? Considering filling a law suit against Rheem.

"Do not purchase a Rheem A/C"
This Rheem R-410A RHLL HM3821JA is a $3,800.00 piece of garbage. It's 5-1/2 years old and I have put over $3000.00 in repairs to this A/C unit. This morning the blower motor quit working and will cost $1,000 to replace. Every other month I have a repair man here fixing another failed or broken part. I will never buy or recommend a Rheem product to anyone. Found out that they are made in China and Mexico; imagine that.

Compressor stopped after 8 months. 2nd time it required maintenance. It's an unreliable unit.

Every year the coils break. They are covered under warranty; however, it costs $400 in labor to have them replaced. 3 years old and 3 replacements.

"Another bad review - excessive repair costs"
Being a disabled man, when I moved into my condo a few years ago I had to research and get a good air system. I could not take a chance and buy an inferior system that wouldn't last long. I had my complete air handler and compressor replaced less than 4 years ago. Since that time I have had 3 evaporator coils replaced, and the electronic module has died. I have had about $2000 in labor repairs over the past 14 months. My installer feels for me; but, unfortunately, all labor costs have been out of pocket. Rheem customer service has told me that this is my problem. I am not stating this as if my problems are any worse than the hundreds of others that have written about similar problems. We all share the same issues. Due to a debilitating autoimmune, I have had to sell my home, stop working and deal with approximately $1000 a month in medical bills. To add unexpected air system financial hits like this adds too much stress. I am on my condo's HOA board. People constantly ask me for suggestions on items such as air systems. I can only tell them my experience and what to not consider.

"Trouble since July, 2012 Installation"
I would never buy another rheem a/c since this one has been a lemon. It was installed by One Hour Heating and Cooling.
