Both split-systems and single-room air conditioners are available under the Whirlpool brand. With many features designed for efficiency and quiet operation, consumers have a range of options for meeting their home's cooling needs.
Split-System Air Conditioners
Many Whirlpool split-system air conditioners are AHRI certified and ETL listed, promoting their performance and safety compliance. With efficiency ratings of up to 18 SEER, these 2-stage units provide temperature control and save energy. The swept-wing fan blades of the variable-speed condenser fan increase efficiency while dampening sound. According to the manufacturer, noise production is further reduced by the compressor's high-density foam sound blanket.
These air conditioners come with diagnostic modules such as Emerson Comfort Alert or Comfort Alert II to aid in repair. The coils are protected by heavy-gauge galvanized steel cabinets, and their raised placement is intended to inhibit the collection of debris ensuring optimal air flow.
Single-Room Air Conditioners
Whirlpool's single-room air conditioners are either Energy Star-qualified or Premier Energy Star-qualified. As room temperatures reach their settings, these units save energy and reduce sound production with their Eco mode and AutoCool Smart fan. The Overnight mode and Sixth Sense temperature-sensing remote help maintain comfort levels throughout the room. These units are equipped with filters that are easy to remove for cleaning and not susceptible to bacteria, fungi, mold or mildew growth.
Care and Maintenance
Whirlpool advises that its split-system air conditioners be checked yearly by professional service technicians. Homeowners with single-room units should clean the filter regularly, use a good grade enamel paint to touch up areas with paint damage and contact authorized dealers for annual maintenance.
As long as split-system air conditioners are properly registered within 60 days of installation, the 10-year limited warranty applies, though it is not transferable to new homeowners.
Single-room units come with a 1-year warranty. Extended service plans are available that provide round-the-clock phone support, comprehensive coverage and possible reimbursement depending on the unit's age. The Extended Service Plan is transferable to new homeowners.
