Overview of the TTA
The Trane TTA air conditioner is a split system cooling condenser available in sizes ranging from 7 ½ to 20 tons. The series is designed around a unique scroll compressor that offers intrinsically low vibration. According to the manufacturer, the unit has a high performance output and, since it is equipped with just three major moving parts, its operation is simple and efficient.
The design follows the “plug and play” concept, which means it is easy to install, maintain and manage. It is intended to provide clean room filtration, humidity control, heat recovery and 100 percent fresh air. The manufacturer reports that the unit is efficient enough to control humidity during sweltering summer months. This system contains line break motor protection. A completely enclosed compressor chamber was designed to further improve the unit’s efficiency.

"Stay Away from Trane"
Six years ago I added an ac system to a warehouse. I went with Trane (against what others said) because they used to have such a quality brand. I thought I was getting the best. He we are going into the 6th year, the compressor goes. Trane will do nothing about it since they give a 5 year warranty, nothing. I guess they got me. They got me once, but never again. They did not even care to look into it. Then try to talk to someone there? No Chance. It is the worst experience. They are not the same company they were and they just don't care.

"Throw mama from the TRANE"
Just spend my grandchildren's back to school money to completely repair a 5 year old $6000 unit. I used to recommend Trane and will never do so again. I contacted Trane and they were unsympathetic and unwilling to do anything to help. I hope they go out business and if someone pursues a lawsuit count me in.
Other TTA Reviews
One contractor seeking to solve a TTA owner’s problem turns to colleagues on hvac-talk.com for advice. The owner had been having compressor issues since the unit was installed. The contractor found the liquid line to be “grossly oversized” and the unit was being overcharged. Among the advice from other contractors: even when the condenser seems clean at a glance, debris has a way of slipping past the first coil and lodging on the face of the second coil, causing big problems and poor performance.

Trane will replace any part of the central air conditioner that fails due to manufacturer defects within one year of installation. If the sealed motor compressor fails or the outdoor coil becomes defective as a result of manufacturer’s fault, this too will be furnished by the company within the first five years after installation. The warranty will not cover any defect caused by a third party and does not include labor costs. Extended warranties are available.
