Overview of the RSPM
The Rheem RSPM is a packaged air conditioning unit with an efficiency of 14 SEER. It has a scroll compressor and copper tubing / aluminum fin coils. Duct collars are included for easy attachment to duct work, and the unit's top cover is removable for easy access to the compressor, outdoor fan motor and refrigerant tubing. A slide-out blower motor provides easy motor and blower access, while the control box is large and easy to access. A louvered steel cabinet with powder paint finish protects the unit from weather hazards.

Purchased this Rheem on 5/14/2014. What a mistake! Many, many issues, including replacing coil, motor, freon, etc. My wife has a heart condition. This product should be taken off the market, and all purchasers should get replacements of a better product. Sad, sad, sad. Many others in my community have similar issues with their Rheem a/c's. Never, ever again.

"Poor Quality Workmanship. Do not buy"
I bought this new Rheem Package Air Conditioner in 2009. It worked well till 2016. In the past 8 weeks it has proved to have shoddy workmanship at 2 of its soldered joints on the low side. One time in 9/25/2016 I lost all the refrigerant because of a poor solder joint. It was repaired and pressure tested for other leaks. On 11/9/2016 another solder joint cracked from shoddy workmanship from Rheem. The costs to have these 2 repairs were in excess of $700.00. The Rheem company states they will only warranty parts that are defective and that a serial number on its parts, and will not warranty their workmanship. I asked numerous times why they would not warranty their "shoddy" workmanship. The customer service representative would not answer my question. Stay away from this company. They want to sell but they do not want to stand by their product due to their poor and shoddy workmanship.

"Rheem AC junk, stay away."
Rheemís defective air conditioners, warning, don't buy one! Every year I have at least one breakdown, sometimes multiple breakdowns in a yearís time. I had to replace the blower motor the 2nd year in service. That started the nightmare with Rheem. Like others have said, the fan motor has to be ordered due to it being a special fan condenser motor that cost $750, so none of the service companies want to stock them. The 3rd year I had a refrigerant leak in a copper line to the evaporator coil, so again another service call for that leak/repair with a complete refrigerant recharging of the sealed system. The next year the evaporator coil leaked, and had to be replaced. Again, another two service calls replacing the coil with a new one and another refrigerant recharging. Now the unit is out of warranty for parts and the same coil replacement went bad (less than a year in service) and Rheem refuses to warranty the coil they supplied me less than one year ago. These coils must be made in China and made with recycled copper. The copper coils are extruded and stretched so thin, that they canít withstand the R410 low refrigerant pressures. Don't try to call technical services at Rheemís headquarters. They will not speak to a homeowner/customer. They refer you to your local service company. Many of the service owners have no idea what issues any one Rheem unit might have unless they experience units with the same problem over a period of years. Now, most of the service companies I have spoken to say Rheem AC units are known for their breakdowns. There is a class action suit against Rheem for their air conditioners, with the lawsuit stating Rheem knew about the bad coils they installed in their ACís and did nothing about it. I am now purchasing a new AC system for my home after only 6 years and I will never purchase another Rheem product of any kind in the future. I will advise everyone to avoid Rheem AC products like the plague! Don't buy a Rheem AC!

Every time that I arrive at seasonal address, it is necessary to call service repair for this junk! I am now having to replace the blower motor for the second time in less than three years, to the tune of $243 plus $90 for the service call. I will never purchase another Rheem product in the future and will advise everyone to avoid this outfit like the plague!

"It's an alright unit."
Runs perfectly during the winter months when its responsible for heating the house. There also have been little to no issues with cooling during months of lighter cooling usage, such as May and June. But in the months of July and August, when the temperature often soars to 100 degrees, I feel like the unit struggles to keep up with the cooling needs of our condo. During these times it'll take a bit longer to recognize how hot it is, meaning that for a while we'll be sweating it out while we wait for the unit to kick back on again (we have it set to automatic). Either way it's not that serious a problem, just felt it was worth mentioning. We've never had to make any repairs to it, which is great! I would have no problems recommending this model to a friend.
Product registration is required for maximum warranty coverage. The warranty for the Rheem RSPM air conditioner is comprised of the following:
