Overview of the RSMA

Although discontinued in 2005, the Rheem RSMA is a self-contained air conditioning system offering up to 12 SEER. Ranging in capacity from 1.5 to 4 ton units, this series is available in nine different models. All models have side or down air discharge options.

This series features a Copeland scroll compressor, condenser and evaporator coils with enhanced fins and copper tubing, and a system-matched coil for increased efficiency and cooling capabilities. The unit also is equipped with a one-piece top with a drop lip and weeps holes on the access panels to help manage water run-off.

Additional components of this series include a louvered condenser compartment to protect the coils from environmental hazards, as well as easily accessible control box and refrigerant connections that contribute to the unitís simple maintenance and diagnostics. Supplemental electric heat strips up to 15 kW also are available for areas with extreme cold temperatures.

Read reviews! Do your homework! If you do not care about your money and stress is your thing. Then, by all means...BUY A rheem RSMA. You'll get all those things and more. There products don't work correctly. I'm perplexed how they even made it to the level they are as a company.

Other RSMA Reviews

Having been discontinued several years ago, this model has few mentions on discussion boards across the web. Reviews for Rheem cooling units, in general, are mixed. While review sites such as webhvac.com recommend Rheem products for efficiency, durability and having a high quality service record, homeowners aren't as pleased.

Many posters on consumer forums air grievances that their Rheem unit has had multiple repairs over the years for different components, often including the circuit board and coils. Similarly, hvac-for-beginners.com rates high tier Rheem products lowly for using standard compressor technology, and for offering a warranty that's not as competitive as other brands.
