The Rheem 13AJN is a single-stage air conditioner with an efficiency of up to 14.5 SEER. It features condenser coils constructed of copper tubing and enhanced aluminum fins, and a grille/motor mount helps lower fan operation noise and keep sound levels as low as 72 decibels. "Works well when it works...."
Works great when it works. Unit is just over 2 years old, and already we've replaced a defective control board. The new replacement board that came in from Rheem was wired backwards (manufacturing error). The coil iced up twice before having to be replaced; two days after the coil was replaced, the compressor outside shorted and tripped the breaker and the home breaker. Replacement compressor unit from Rheem still has not arrived so we're sitting in a hot condo with no A/C in South Florida. Fortunately I purchased the 10-year labor warranty, so no cost yet out of my pocket (except for countless Freon refills at $40/pound. So I am counting on many service calls in the next 8 years. Geesh....

This unit was made in Mexico in 2012. Installation on a 2800 square foot home killed the unit before its 5th year of life. Don't waste your money.

"Shame on Rheem"
FYI: I'm not a rep! Less than a year after installation the defective coil had to be replaced. 3/17 15: coil replaced. 11/13/15: coil replaced. Now 7/17/15, we need a new coil! Of course the coolant has to be replaced each time. Because we are here less than six months a year, we really don't know how long a coil lasts. It makes me furious to see so- called reviews claiming other manufacture reps are writing fake reviews. Rheem might have manufactured better central air units in the past, but we know that they are very aware of the problems with the defective coils now but will do nothing! What happens after the warranty expires? Unfortunately from other reviews, we will not like the answer.

"Bad product"
I bought this unit in October 2013 at Home Depot. They told me it was the best, but so far there hasn't been proof that it's any good. It's been having problems since day one, the installers keep coming and the piece of crap is always breaking. Never has given me good service and now after only 2 years in use it has finally broken down completely. I will never use this brand again, very disappointed.

"Poor product"
This unit is just 3 years old and has a leak somewhere as yet unfound. If a diagnostic has to be done this will be very costly. Very, very unhappy with this product. I hope someone reads this review and contacts me. I will never recommend this product. Unhappy consumer.

"Don't buy a Rheem!"
Purchased my 2 ton AC unit last summer. 2 months into the summer the condenser had to be replaced. Two months into this summer a valve has to be replaced. The manufacturer needs to do a better job. Wish I read the reviews before purchasing it. I thought Rheem had a good reputable air conditioner.

"Do not buy Rheem"
I had two Rheem systems installed. It worked for two summers and the Freon is completely gone. My old units were still working. I wasted $15,000 for a big headache. Beutler recommended this product to me. They should give me my money back.

So loud outside of my bedroom, and the thing is so noisy I cannot sleep. I've tried everything - new window, etc.
