Overview of the 13AJM

The Rheem 13AJM is a discontinued condensing air conditioning unit with an efficiency rating of up to 14.5 SEER. It was designed for ground level or rooftop installation in both residential and light commercial applications. The compressor had a time delay control and was protected by low- and high-pressure controls and a field-installed bi-directional filter drier. A unique grille pattern which discharged air upward and a grille/motor mount helped provide quiet fan operation and sound levels as low as 74 decibels. All controls were accessed through one service panel for easy maintenance. A painted louvered steel cabinet protected the 13AJM from weather hazards.

"Stay away"
We have had issues with the A/C and also the furnace since we bought them. The A/C keeps freezing and the temperature in the house rises from warm air being forced through the house. The A/C will continuously run because it never cools the air down in the house but the complete opposite.

"Rheem air conditioners"
Rheem makes outstanding products and their distributors stand behind their contractors 100%. To those of you complaining about recent "coil issues" and "sticky valves", this is not because of the Rheem equipment. The installing contractor should be aware that the company who manufactures compressors for every major brand of equipment had an issue with gunk in the compressors. This gunk causes the txv to become sticky. The fix to this has been covered by every manufacturer and contractors are receiving a labor warranty to inject a solution into the system. This resolves the sticky issue. If a unit leaks soon after installation, this is an installation issue. Most comments on here are from an installation issue or the sticky valve. You should not base your decision on what brand to purchase based off a contractor failing to install the equipment properly. A great contractor would back the homeowner when there is an issue. I suggest finding a contractor with great reviews and one who has had a long standing relationship with the BBB. It never hurts to ask for references when you are unsure. A reference will inform you of their experience with the contractor and their thoughts on the equipment. The gunk issue in the compressors has been resolved for all new manufactured condensers.

"Major service expenses"
In three years I have spent $700 in labor repairs for motor failures. Rheem refuses to accept any responsibility for labor costs. They cover parts not labor. However it's their parts that keep failing!
