Overview of the CHA16
The Lennox CHA16 is a single-packaged air conditioner, offering up to 10.25 SEER, that was discontinued in 2001. Designed for both residential and commercial use, this series comes in models ranging from 2 to 5 tons and with a cooling capacity of 19,200 to 50,500 Btu/h. Electric heat is also available with the heating range of 14,300 to 65,400 Btu/h.
The CHA16 can be installed on a rooftop or side of a building, with bottom or horizontal airflow. Additional features of this unit include a durable galvanized steel cabinet coated in powdered enamel paint to protect against rust and corrosion; a multi-speed blower; and a compressor that produces noise levels as low as 80 decibels.
Lennox also offers a variety of optional accessories for the CHA16, such as hail guards, dampers and coil guards. All accessories must be purchased separately.

Technical support was unavailable. I kept getting the message, "technical support is unavailable, call back after 1 hour". Time is money and it appears that Lennox does not understand that.

Allways remember that the technician is not allways right when it comes to condemning compressors or other parts, or even equipment for that matter. Just because they say a part is bad dosn't mean it is. Also installation is more than 50% of the whole package. A poor install will ruin your equipment just as quick as a poor installation. Most brands are very dependable, the were installed sloppily and maintained incorrectly.; Just my experience.

"Review of Lennox Central Air Conditioning System"
I own Lennox CHA16-90 Central air conditioner. I have been using it since July 2008 and it never encountered any major problems except the motor has been replaced once. The performance has been ultimate. The cooling is so instant and we do not have to wait long to get my apartment cool just after the start. It delivered greater efficiency for most of the days in an year. There is only one or two instances where it lacked performance i.e. during a party at my place where my house was a little bit crowded and my AC was unable to take the load and it struggled to keep the place cool and once the motor has been replaced as it got burnt because of these overload conditions. But on overall, it delivered best performance throughout the year. I would go for same brand again for now with greater cooling capacity as my current one has problems keeping the place cool when crowded. I would recommend this brand for my friends and it will never let down anyone coming to the performance and efficiency.
Other CHA16 Reviews
Although Lennox manufactured the CHA16 for more than a decade, there are only a few troubleshooting inquiries (generally involving the commercial installation of the unit) on other web forums. In general, Lennox is regarded as a quality product on web forums such as hvac-talk.com. While some reviewers on that site grumble about the brand's tendency to range on the expensive side, several contractors maintain that the high price is worth the quality. Poor performance, they state, is often the effect of faulty installation and not the unit itself.
