Overview of the GPC13
The Goodman GPC13 is a discontinued packaged air conditioner with an efficiency of 13.0 SEER. The GPC13 was available in two configurations: horizontal (GPC13H) and multi-position (GPC13M). A fully insulated blower compartment featured convenient access panels and helped keep sound levels as low as 76 decibels. The unit featured a copper tube/aluminum fin coil and a permanently lubricated condenser fan motor. The cabinet was constructed of heavy-gauge galvanized steel and had a corrosion-resistant, Architectural Gray powder-paint finish. The GPC13 used R-410A refrigerant.

"Do not buy this brand! Period!"
Do not buy this brand! Period! I see why we make purchases from China! These crooks do everything to wiggle out of the warranty. At my first home in 2008 the contractor opened this unit up out of the box in my driveway and installed it. Worked 1 year, the next year it had leaked 3 pounds of Freon, R22. Was out $150.00 and a service call. With this being my first home I wasn't aware of AC coils and things of that nature, so I went to Home Depot and purchased a 10,000 BTU window unit and just cooled the upstairs for about the last 6 summers. Well I remembered the warranty book for the main AC unit was downstairs so I picked it up and read through it. It said 10 years and 5 on full service, or something to that effect. I called Goodman, they did everything they could to wiggle out of the warranty! Never again! The ironic thing is, a week before I got this AC unit Home Depot called and called to install a Trane! I should have got the Trane! Thus far this year I have gone through 6 pounds of R22 @ 50.00/pound, I have a $280.00 light bill and a house with vaulted ceilings full of heat and a company who I had to call several times just to get a part number. Not to mention the AC installer told me I would have to buy a new complete air handler at $2200.00 and I'm like, there is nothing wrong with the blower, it's the coil on the inside of the air handler. Once I backed him into a corner he told me to change out the leaking coil, vacuum the system and inject the NU22 into the system would be $1200.00 and that was the lowest he could do it for. I was livid! I told him don't worry about it, just give me the part number. Of course you know how that went. Lesson learned. So I'm back with the window unit upstairs and the downstairs is a mini inferno at 5pm in the daytime. I think I'm going to take an HVAC course, they make millions screwing people over and installing Goodman returnables.

"Piece of junk"
This unit was installed when I purchased my home by the seller. 4 years later I'm replacing an evaporator coil. Sure the part is covered under warranty, but not the $785 in labor! I've been told by every HVAC technician I know that Goodman is the worst brand out there. Of course the seller chose this brand because it's cheap and they were selling the house so why should they care. I've read about several class action lawsuits against the company for defective coils. I wish there was one against them in Texas, because I'd be all over it.

"Doesn't warranty workmanship"
We recently bought a house that had this unit installed in 2011. In June of 2015, the unit lost all its refrigerant and stopped working. The technician found a crack where the low pressure tube that comes from the outside port connected to the larger tubing. The crack was where it had been originally soldered at the factory. Upon reading the warranty information, I found that Goodman would warranty parts like the compressor and fan motor but did not warranty the workmanship like soldered connections. Where this unit was only 4 years old, I decided to write to Goodman to see if there was any way they could, at least, reimburse part of the repair bill. They replied back and basically said they would not for a variety of reasons, all of which were not satisfactory to me. My conclusion was that they were not interested in satisfying a customer, backing their product or wanting to make sure they keep a customer. The unit is working fine for now but when it comes time to replace the unit, we will not be purchasing another Goodman-made unit.

"Don't buy this garbage"
Compressor failure at 5 years 3 months. I called to confirm the warranty. The installer failed to send it in to the manufacturer, changing the manufacturer limited warranty to 5 years, not the 10 and 20 years they state. When stating my displeasure of such poor warranty policies the employee at Goodman hung up on me. Garbage product / garbage service.

"What's the deal with the run capacitor!"
My 2 1/2 ton Goodman is on the 3rd capacitor in 6 years. Bought one today for 58.00 dollars and will install it myself. I will not buy another one.

"Lost Freon line"
In the last 3 years bought 3 MH(package units), all 3 ton. Two of them lost Freon in 10 months in service. The third one lasted only 36 days and lost Freon, all for the same reason: service (charging Freon) tubing broke off from low pressure line and, of course, Goodman won't do anything about it. It cost me $782 to re-solder all 3 of the same tubings (in same place) and recharge the lost Freon. Sent a letter with bills to consumer relation dept. as instructed and never heard from them. When the distributor asked them about it, they told him to reimburse me 50% of my expenses, so they did. But Goodman won't take any responsibility for their inferior/poorly design tubing connection,which is very simple to correct. Goodman's people are very rude in their answers to this persisting problems. Every local a/c service business strongly recommended staying away from Goodman products. Plagued with problems and no warranty. They don't consider Freon and soldering rods ($12 for one) as parts so they won't pay for it.

"Goodman A/C failed after 15 months"
Bought unit from a/c direct had it installed 08/15 2014 unit stopped cooling. Called Horizion A/C to come take a look. $1,468.30 later repaired pin hole in refrigerant line -- obviously manufacture issue -- leak was at brazed joint. Called Goodman to see about warranty. Person answered with attitude when I described my problem. They stated that if they do not replace the part there is no warranty.Will not recommend or purchase another Goodman product. The repair bill was more than the purchase price.

"Worst ac ever"
Worst ac ever . Loaded with cheap defective parts. Does nothing but break down. I am still covered under my 5 year warranty and have to always fight to get it fixed. The unit is not even 5 years old and the. Rivets holding fan together came apart. Very cheaply made for the $6000.00 I spent for. Manufacturer does not stand behind unit nor does AZ Refrigeration who installed it. Word of advice: do not waste time doing business with these companies.

"Bad air conditioners"
We trusted our a/c man to install a Goodman unit in 2007 and we have had nothing but leak after leak of Freon and now the heating system will not shut off unless the breaker is off. Our first leak was the second summer we owned the unit. We have spent at least $3,500 on repairs and replacement Freon since 2007 because Goodman refused to warranty any of this problem. This does not count the hot days we spent waiting on a repairman. Do not buy a Goodman unit because you will be soooo sorry!!!!!
