"Don't even think about a Goodman"
I've had a Goodman 5 ton unit installed about 7-8 years ago during my complete remodeling project. From day one the unit has not performed properly and the compressor burned out twice, both times needing to be replaced. Goodman corporate should be renamed, badman!. Don't walk away from a Goodman, run away, and fast!

"High Quality and Affordable!"
My Goodman DSXC180361 central air conditioner is really impressive. I have, unfortunately, had to buy several central air conditioners in my life and this one certainly performs the best. This is not an overstatement! This unit is highly efficient and very quiet. The efficiency, coupled with the great price of the unit itself, is hard to beat. The unit is strong and sturdy to the touch. It seems that it was made in a high quality manner. I am impressed with this part of my unit, I didn't think I'd get such high quality at the price. When I found this Goodman I couldn't believe that I would get such a great unit for the price. I can't think of any cons to write so I would want to go ahead and recommend this brand and model to any others out there who find themselves needing a quality unit at an affordable price!

"Does the job it is supposed to"
I have owned the Goodman DSXC180481 central air conditioner for about a year now. Everything arrived as advertised. Delivery happened just as expected, I was notified when they were on their way. The only thing I didn't like about the unit is it didn't come with any instructions when it arrived, so unless you've installed one of these units before, you are at a bit of a disadvantage. But having a family member that can install things of this sort I was able to work my way around it. It works and cools, but takes some time for the inside temperature to come down. There were positives and negatives but I am very satisfied because of the bargain price. It is great for a super warm summer once it cools down. Only having it for one year I have not had to replace or repair anything yet. I would definitely purchase again if I need one down the line. I would also recommend to a friend if they are in need of a central air conditioner unit.

"Great quality system if installed correctly."
Goodman is quality, I'm not sure why anyone has issues with this unit or any other Goodman units but I will say, if you have a good installer this unit should perform as it should. It seems a lot of people complain about the start -run capacitor failing. Lightning and surging can cause these to fail. I recommend a surge suppressor on the outdoor unit to stop the capacitor failures. My unit works perfect and has for nearly a year or so now. I would recommend Goodman to anyone who wants a quality central air system. Great job, Goodman employees who built my system; a job very well done.

"Goodman no longer my choice"
I own 3 units, 2.5 and 3 ton. My neighbor wants to move away because it is louder than a diesel truck constantly running by the house. We initially had a bad technician install the units. We spend a lot to fix the outside unit. The pump does not seem to work efficiently. This causes it to run almost nonstop when the temperature is around 90-95 and the setting temperature is 78 degrees.

"It's all about the install!"
I have been installing HVAC equipment for over 20 years. Almost all brands have the same compressors, contactors, controls, etc. as every other brand. If any one is installed correctly, started correctly and serviced correctly, you will have many years of comfort. If your dealer and distributor are good, go with the Goodman. I was a Trane dealer for many years and the support on their equipment is the worst. I have cut back my Trane purchases by over 95% due to this fact.

"Awesome, worth the money!"
I love my Goodman air conditioning unit, I have owned it for about a year. Instead of buying a cheap unit that will conk out in a few years I decided to really make an investment, and the Goodman seems like a solid unit! I like that it is quiet but really good at keeping my fairly large place cool! The only problem is the sticker price was pretty high and it isn't very pretty. I paid around $1500 for it but they said it is supposed to last for a good long time. I haven't needed any repairs on it yet, so I like that as well. Hopefully, I wont have to shell out much money on repairs for quite a while. I would buy Goodman again, but hopefully my air conditioner will stick around for the length of time that I am in my house! So, get Goodman if you don't want to mess around with units that will break.

"Cools home quickly"
I have had very few problems with this unit. Since purchase several years ago, in 2010, due to my older central air unit breaking down on me, I decided to go with a Goodman through a recommendation from a friend. I have had only one repair and it was the thermostat. That was easily fixed and has been fine. Having a home in the valley can get very hot at times, into the 100's during the summer months. But it does a great job cooling down my home, quickly. In comparison to my older Amana unit, the Goodman took about half the time to get my home to the desired temperature. Although a little pricey for me, the price was well worth it and the energy savings I got from running my air conditioner during the summer months saved on the price of the air conditioner. I would buy it again if I had another home.

"Air Conditioning Review"
We have had our central air conditioning unit since we moved into our house in 2003 so its been about 8 years since we inherited the thing. For the most part there have been very few problems with it. It always does the job cooling the house relatively quickly when we decide to to turn it on which is all we really want from it. There are not too many negatives. One is that sometimes when we put it on and there is a distinct smell that comes from the vents but that is probably just from a lack of cleaning. We had to repair it once or twice throughout the years and it cost about one hundred and fifty dollars each time but only twice in eight years is pretty good. After each repair the air went back to normal. I would definitley buy the same brand again and would recommend Goodman brand central air conditioning units to anyone (friends, family, co-workers, etc).

I replaced a 16 year old Trane system that needed constant repair with the new Goodman gmvm96 Furnace, Goodman dsxc18 ac, and ComfortNet ctk01aa Thermostat approximately three months ago. I am very pleased with my system. I was able to get high end premium features at a fair price, not overpriced. The system is very quiet (I can talk on the phone standing next to the ac Unit). The two stage ac, variable furnace make my home noticeably more comfortable. I especially like the adjustable air circulating fan speed for summer use/balance. I was the second home in my area to get the new modulating furnace, my installer was very impressed with it and has installed several since based on his experience at my house. I would definitely buy this system again and recommend to friends. I have no reservations about choosing Goodman.

"DSXC180481 has been great"
I bought this unit from ac wholesalers and had professional assistance installing it, but did a lot myself. It is highly efficient, quiet, and has great installation instructions someone handy can follow. The components, E.G. Copeland scroll compressor and Emerson control boards and txv are the same as more expensive units. I have to agree that those who are having problems are in some cases older designs or poor installation. If you don't replace the line set, evacuate the system, etc. you are bound to have problems. So Far awesome unit for a great price.

"Goodman Central Air Conditioner: A Great Purchase"
A few months ago I purchased a Goodman DSXC180601 central air conditioner system for my home and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The summers can get very hot here so this air conditioner has been a lifesaver. I cannot comment personally on the installation process since I hired someone do install it for me, but there were no complications in the process and the installation went smoothly. The Goodman DSXC180601 has done an excellent job keeping our family cool no matter how hot the weather is, and has required almost no maintenance and has yet to fail us! While the price can be pretty high, the product is definitely worth it. The system is energy efficient so you won't spend a fortune on bills, and it runs so quietly you'll barely notice any noise when it's on and keeping your family comfortable. I would certainly buy a Goodman product again after this purchase. Wonderful air conditioner!

"My central air unit"
I have currently owned this unit for 2 years. I like it because it is quiet and keeps the house cool. Being able to control the temperature of my house is a amazing thing. I can just set it to a certain temperature and forget about it. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it doesn't cool my upstairs as much my downstairs level. However i was told that before buying it that i would need to get two in order to have both the same quality. So far i have never had to repair it nothing has gone wrong with it. I would buy the same brand again and would recommend it to a friend. I think it works well. It wasn't too expensive and has made my summers a lot better. It is also environmentally friendly which is a good thing. I like to buy products that are environmentally friendly.

"I love my Goodman AC central unit!"
I purchased this model last year and am very pleased with its performance so far. It keeps my house COLD, and I have yet to have any problems with it. There is nothing negative I can say about it. I have never had to have any repairs, or replace it, but it has only been about a year since I purchased it. It is environmentally friendly, so it makes me feel like I made a better decision purchasing this one rather than another. This particular unit is also the quietest one I have ever experienced. This unit also has humidity control, so with the Midwest weather and humidity, it is a lot less miserable. I don't think that I will ever purchase any other brand in the future. My old brand did not come close to comparison with this unit, and I am glad I saved up enough for the switch. I am now a loyal Goodman customer!
Other DSXC18 Reviews
Although some contractors on consumer forms warn homeowners away from the Goodman brand, homeowners on consumer forms such as doityourself.com or gardenweb.com are attracted to the DSCX18 because of the good value of the unit and its long warranty. Despite the negative reviews around the Goodman name, contractors note that with quality installation this unit should provide consistent performance.
In addition, a professional review on qualitysmith.com notes that while the DSCX18 may not be the highest efficiency air conditioner on the market, it offers solid performance at a price well below competing models. However, reviews on topratedhvac.com suggest that despite the quality of this unit, it may not offer the same longevity as high-tier models and could fail prematurely if installed incorrectly.
Goodman provides the original owner with a 10-year parts limited warranty for all parts and lifetime limited warranty for the compressor. The unit also is equipped with a 10-year heat exchanger replacement. Registration within 60 days of installation is required to receive the full warranty.
