Air conditioners remove hot air from inside your home to reduce indoor temperatures. Some AC units collect and process hot air and then release cool air into your living space. Some Goodman AC models feature a two-speed condenser fan motor, while others use a single-speed motor. Goodman also sells units of various capacities and efficiency levels.

Goodman AC series and models

Goodman offers several air conditioner models, each with different features. Comparing each unit’s specifications can help you choose the best air conditioner for your home.

Goodman GSXC18 and GSXC16

These central air conditioning units have highly efficient two-stage condenser fan motors, and two-stage Ultratech scroll compressors deliver exceptional performance. The GSXC18 and GSXC16 models are Energy Star certified, which can reduce energy bills. These air conditioners feature ComfortAlert diagnostics and ComfortBridge technology, which continuously monitors system performance. The heavy-gauge, galvanized steel cabinet protects the AC components, and the factory-installed in-line filter dryers enhance performance. Both models feature quiet operation, are compact and have accessible service ports and controls.

The GSXC18 model measures 35.75″W x 35.75″D x 40″H. The unit is available with cooling capacities between 24,000 and 60,000 British thermal units (BTU) per hour. This split-system air conditioner has a seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) of up to 19 and costs about $3,400, including installation.

Goodman GSX16, GSX14 and GSX13

The Goodman GSX16, GSX14 and GSX13 air conditioners are perfect for budget-conscious consumers who want to lower their energy costs without compromising on performance. These models feature energy-efficient compressors and single-speed condenser fan motors for even temperature control. Each unit has a factory-installed filter dryer that protects the system from contaminants. These models feature quiet operation and heavy-gauge steel construction for long-term durability.

This energy-efficient split-system air conditioner delivers energy efficiency of up to 14 SEER and costs about $1,500 for a five-ton unit.

Care and maintenance

Routine maintenance by licensed HVAC professionals can help keep your air conditioning system operating at peak performance. The best time for maintenance is before you begin operating the air conditioner each year. A professional will look for leaks, clear drain lines, check electrical connections, lubricate moving parts and inspect the exterior fan.

Additional steps you can take to keep your air conditioner in good condition include changing your air filter at least once per month and cleaning the coils regularly.

For an exterior AC system, you should cut back foliage and remove debris around the unit. You should also fix bent fins on the evaporator and regularly check the condensate drains. Also remember to replace your thermostat’s batteries when necessary.

Goodman AC warranties

Goodman stands by the quality of its air conditioners with product warranties. Every Goodman air conditioner automatically carries a five-year limited parts warranty. You receive additional warranty coverage after registering your AC unit. The additional coverage includes a 10-year limited parts warranty and, for select models, a 10-year limited replacement warranty and a lifetime limited compressor warranty.

"Defunct warranty"

Bought new house in 2009, 2 Goodman units installed. Within the first year I was having trouble with downstairs unit. The board was bad, gas line connect was not installed properly. Upstairs started leaking frown r22 after about 5 years. But, of course that 60 day registration, that my builder forgot to tell me about took effect. So Goodman would not stand by there product !!! You either get the warranty or you don't. They pride themselves with this little tactic. There product is a joke and so are the personnel, not customer friendly. I do not recommend Goodman product. Thanks

"Really angry about this air conditioner"

I just bought a completely gutted and renovated home less than 1 year ago and the air conditioner was 2 years old. Just broke and now we are waiting for of all things a motor. I'm in Florida it's hot and I'm pissed. Why should such a new unit break already? We've been 4 days without air conditioning and probably won't have it for another 4 days. Would never buy this brand again I wish they had installed a Trane or Rheem air conditioner. My contractor says he chose it cause it's made in the USA. That is preferable of course but quality would be preferable to something domestic made.

I have been reading most of the reviews, I wonder why people are so stupid in hiring a fly by night guy to install a furnace /a/C. Goodman is one of the best name brands on the market TODAY.Goodman Manufacturing is a member of the Daikin Group, the world's largest manufacturer of Heating, Ventilation and air Conditioning products and systems. It's all in the install guys. I love mine.

Do not purchase Goodman products. Had a brand new unit (inside and outside) installed in January 2018. This past weekend it stopped cooling and the outside unit froze up. The technician found a leak in the coils in the indoor unit. Parts are covered under warranty so that's something. But the almost $1000 in freon we've had to shell out in the last few days because of the leak in the coil is not covered. But the girl I talked to from Goodman told me "sorry, it's not covered." In a very polite manner. That's about all the good I can say.
