Overview of the Infinity
There is no actual Carrier Infinity air conditioner series. Instead, there are several different Infinity series.
Carrier Infinity air conditioners include the Infinity 21, with an efficiency of up to 21 SEER; Infinity 19VS, a 19 SEER, variable-speed unit; Infinity 17, with up to 17 SEER; Infinity 17 Coastal, a 17 SEER unit designed to withstand salt air; the discontinued Infinity 18, which offered 18 SEER efficiency; and the Infinity 16, with an efficiency of up to 16 SEER.

"Bad AC unit and carrier will not replace"
I bought three units for my house. The one that I paid the most for which was ten thousand dollars, is the one that I have most of trouble with. This unit have had two motors and two compressors. Two switch boards and a thermostat. I had this unit for five years and it gives me trouble every year. I donít know what to do. I think carrier is trying to wait until the warrant wears out and then they can really drain my pockets. This unit is a dud. I have talk to carrier reps. Time and time. Same results every time. I was very excited when I purchased this unit because it supposed to been the Cadillac of my house. Now itís an Cadillac with a bunch of problems. I will not support carrier on my next house.

"Good unit, good installers, waranty worthless"
I did all my homework and selected the best hvac system for me, contacted the installers who were honest and highly professional, and then found out that Carrier arbitrarily reduced my ten year warranty on all parts from an advertised ten years to five years. They did this because they claimed I never filled out a post card with a lot of highly personal information such as salary, age, and others. I maintain that I gave this information to them through the internet. They said they never got it. I suspect that Carrier makes a lot of money by denying people the warranties that they paid for and I was assured by the installers that I did pay for a full warranty on all parts for ten years. It is strange that such a well engineered system should suffer from cheap tricks that leave the consumer without any recourse except the courts. I will never buy another Carrier system nor recommend another, which I have done. I do like the system, but the companies policies appear to me to be predatory.

Carrier Air Conditioners are junk. Do not buy. Customer service is horrible (quote from their consumer help desk when asking how to get a system fixed: "That's your problem."). Absolutely horrible.

"2nd year failure"
Purchased the AC unit including heat furnace in April 2014. AC failed in June 2016. Thermostat message was "failure in communication". Local Carrier Service Agent had to go through trial and error of replacing external circuit board, then checking each wiring harness connection, then determining that the solenoid in Copeland compressor must have failed (replaced the unit). Once all these components were replaced the unit still shorted a fuse (numerous times). Service agent then "rigged" wiring so that the unit could run on High Mode. Indicated that the problem must be the wiring harness (this was replaced). Spent $900 in service fees for what appears to be a simple wiring harness short. Must note that Carrier lacks adequate tech support and specific error message data detail to allow service agent to pinpoint failure. Probably will never buy or recommend Carrier again. Too bad...had high hopes for efficiency, low ops costs - blew that with 1st failure service agent labor fees to fix it.

"Do not buy a Carrier!"
You will have problems with Carrier if you choose to purchase through them. ****** ******** ** has tried to fix our unit 7 times and each time it works for a couple of weeks. They promise they've fixed it each time. I truly don't think they know what they're doing. We've gone through managers and they don't respond. So don't buy a Carrier and don't use ****** ******** **.

"Unit failed and Warranty not Honored"
In 2007, we installed the Carrier top of the line "Infinity" with 2- speed heat pump, 2-stage burner, and 2-speed blower HVAC. In 2016 the compressor unit fan broke loose from the grill with the middle grill bars still attached to the fan, which sliced the internal components and caused the compressor oil to drain out. The Carrier service technician and a second independent technician recommended complete replacement of the compressor unit due to the internal damage. Carrier insisted that their "extended warranty" only covers parts replacement, not the unit replacement, and refused to provide any warranty coverage. Multiple communications with the "Sigler" warranty division, and to Carrier directly, failed to obtain any coverage.

"Poor Product and Service"
Horrible! Do not use Iceman company or purchase Carrier ac Unit. Do not stand by product or warranty. Unit less than 9 years old and have been told leaks 3 different times, replace evaporator and coil 3 times (every 2 years) and none is covered under warranty and fix at a cost of up to $6000.00. Each time got second opinion and all 3 times Iceman was wrong but can't have anyone but a Carrier Dealer work on unit and have to use Iceman because that is who my extended warranty contract is with. Need a new thermostat and can't get one because have to use Iceman who can't diagnose the correct problem because they only diagnose problems no covered under warranty. Carrier won't intervene, won't help to get new thermostat because have to get from a Carrier Dealer. Carrier says can call another Carrier Dealer to see if they will help you but they don't have to because contract is with Iceman and should really deal with them. Wish I had never every used Iceman or purchased a Carrier ac Unit. Have a dual system and other system is a York and have never had one problem with that. Stay away from Iceman and Carrier.

This is a two stage variable speed and the speed never varies. It's so loud we can't hear ourselves talk. The cat runs behind the bed and meows the whole time it is on. We have had two companies look at it and 4 different techs and no one can fix it. The air coming out the vents is not very cold and it has to run all day to get the house cool. This is supposed to be the high efficient model. We cannot turn the heater on in the early morning because the noise wakes up everyone up and again it takes forever to raise the temperature one degree. There is no number low enough to rate this unit, and by the way it's one of their most expensive models.

"Carrier Infinity Is Junk and Carrier has no customer service consideration"
We purchased 3 Carrier Infinity units, installed on our home 7 years ago. We have had problems with them since installation. Two outside units have since been replaced after about 6 years and the one original remaining is constantly having issues with lack of proper cooling. Carrier has become junk in my experience, the name once stood for quality but no longer. Carrier as a company provides absolutely no level of consideration for customer satisfaction or service. In the future, I will install bottom line Janitrol before Carrier. Stay away from Carrier's inferior products, extremely high cost for equipment and the parts and labor to fix the junk, in addition to Carrierís disregard for customer consideration.

"Carrier is JUNK"
We had this Carrier Infinity unit put in two years ago and it has yet to run for 3 months straight! I have never bought a bigger pile crap then this ac unit in my life. It has had every electronic board changed out inside and out. The inside blower fan motor just quit and had to be replaced. Now the outside compressor exploded shot oil all over the house and yard. The system seems to be smarter than the people that work on it as well. I paid over 12k for this system and with well over 35 service calls (and counting) in two years and with labor I am out $3000 on top of that initial $12.000. I would not wish this Carrier unit on someone I hate. Carrier is no help at all in addressing my issues they just donít care. Do not buy this system!

My Carrier Infinity has not lived up to the hype. The unit is just five years old and I had to have it repaired several time. Now the compressor just died. Come on folks, this unit was very expensive. My parents have a little known brand unit and I believe they are going on 20 years with just routine maintenance

"Underpowered 2 ton AC"
This is the 2nd summer I have had my new Infinity System. The furnace works great....but the ac is horrible. If the temp is above 80, it runs constantly and then the temp starts creeping up to close to 80 in the house in the late afternoon. I had the service man out the first year. He found an internal heat panel to be out of place (he said it must have been a Friday afternoon manufacture). The fan however never goes above low speed. My feet freeze....and the rest of the house is sweltering. I complained again and my installer said this is a problem with the Carrier 2 ton units....they run at a low speed and never cool the house. He has agreed to jury rig a circuit board to "fool" the a/c unit that I have, a 3 ton unit and the fan will run at a higher speed. Come on CARRIER>>>>>your units are not what they claim as I sit here and type this letter with sweat coming down my face.

I purchased an Infinity gas furnace & central a/c unit five years ago. My warranties have mostly expired. During a routine maintenance, I was informed that the a/c unit is leaking freon. I paid top dollar for an hvac system I thought would be headache free for at least 10 years. I've already spent $500.00 plus for minor repairs not counting the upcoming "leak search" which has been estimated to cost upwards of $250.00 for the search alone. I'm with so many others and will not purchase another Carrier item.

We bought a Carrier Infinity unit 4 years ago, It is junk. Something is always breaking on it, labor bills are very high, started having problems few months after installed and still having them. We contacted Carrier Corp. several times. They didn't want to hear anything we had to say and would not return phone calls. Just turned on my air yesterday, guess what, it didn't work. Cost today was another $600 in labor bills.

"Nightmare in North Florida"
Carrier Infinity - Just don't do it. Replaced 2 units with 2 Carrier Infinity ..... only one of the old units was broken. Assured our power bills would go down 50% .... and they WENT UP over 33% in KW usage and more in $$$. Perhaps I'll contact the parent company, United Technologies. I suspect the parent company does NOT have a clue how many DISSATISFIED and DISGUSTED customers they have. What a way to ruin a Brand Name like Carrier. Our service provider stalled and stalled on getting an appointment with the Carrier Rep - still hasn't happened yet, the appointment was postponed. With a BAD installation, you might as throw your money down a rat hole. Oh, yeah, Carrier, the manufacturer, doesn't really stand behind their product. They pass you off to the Carrier Independent DISTRIBUTOR. That's like GM or Ford ignoring their warranty obligations and you having to rely on your local dealership to HONOR the warranty. Oh, yeah, the unit is VERY LOUD.
